Well I just saw it.
I was more impressed than I thought I was gonna be.
But the movie still had some serious bummers.
I'll start with the bad:
I hated Jetfire's design. Hated the fallen and his ilk.
The Pretender scene sucked worse than infamous "The Car Wash of Doom" story from the comics. Why.... The..... F**k.
Just a huge waste of movie time. In fact all that college shit was.
The excessive desert military stuff/human storylines...
I still dont like Shia Lebouf and his ridiculous 1 geared overacting.
(the scene with the aircraft carrier was just gratuitous.)
The humans while being shown to take more of an asskicking this time, we still too effective against the TFs. How they destroyed Devastator was just ludicrous.
The sheer amount of shitty 3rd rate matrix rejects in the forms of RC cars, insects, crab things, squidy probes etc etc etc in just so mindnumbingly un-TFs and generic and unimaginative.
What was this...? The matrix..? Terminator 3 or 4...?
Talk about yer identity crisis....
Not enough screen time for the individual Constructicons.
Maybe they could have focused on them for 20 mins, rather than Sam's inane college story...?
I share AC's disapproval of the Megatron being the Fallen's b*tch.
(Especially as the Fallen was such a piece of shit.)
I hated Soundwave's Doc Oc meets Fifth Element baddie look.
I'm still irritated greatly by the generic Bay soundtrack scoring. Its about time he found a new one to rehash constantly in all his movies....
Now what surprises me, is that that is where the list of gripes end, more or less.....
Heres a phrase I thought I wouldnt get a chance to say:
"And now the good."
Megatron (apart from his asslicking of the Fallen) was more Megatron like.... less of the "Rarrrrrr! Im a monster, I ammmmmm... Rarrrrrrrrrrrr...!" type dialogue/characterisation so prevailant in the 1st one. His voice was more like the Megatron we know and love too.
I liked Starscream's more G1ey portrayal, both character wise and vocally....he definitely was more Chris Latta-ish which I loved.
Even looking like a stupid, bugfaced apetwat, he still oozed the neccesary odious creep Starscream thang. SO much better.
A more accurate portrayal of his and Megtron's relationship.
Last time round John Turtorro's character bugged the living shit out of me which his near hysterical overacting and this time he toned it down. Much better there and he was he was funnier for it, when not trying so hard to ram it down our throats..
The action was much better this time round.
A huge problem with the 1st movie was that we couldnt see the action because Bay insisted on ramming the camera right up Prime or whoever's arse like every other second, ruining the fight utterly, when you just had fast moving non descript shiny things right up close the whole time.....This time the camera chilled back allowed us to see more of what was going on on screen, and the TFs fights were longer, more eventful and more spectacular in ROTF.
Ravage. Stupid f**king head.... But otherwise cool.
Liked the Bayformer take on the G1 version, and that they even got his guns in the position of the proton missles he used to have.
More Prime hero moment stuff... The sort of stuff you would expect of Optimus Prime, with less "Oooops myyyy baddddddd" idiot dialogue this time.. Much more Primesque. Though the comined Jetfire parts thing was cool, conceptually.
Nice little homages to the Aerialbots in the Smithsonian.
Saw at least Fireflight (Phantom F4), Silverbolt (SST) and maybe Airraid (F-15). Mmmmmmmmm..... Superion maybe in the next one...?
Even though I hated the Fallen, and Jetfire's physical design, I liked the voicing of the Fallen, very well....G1 megatron, strangely.
I thoguht Jetfire had some good lines.
More G1 mythos than last time although Im not happy aboput them making the Allspark like the Matrix, and the Matrix like Vector Sigma key. Usages of human holograms..
While I hated soundwave's new form and stuff, his voice was spot on. (minus the vocoder treatment of course) Soundwave was even heard speaking exactly like that in the cartoon a couple of times, when the vocoder wasnt applied.
Other thoughts:
Wheelie was fu**ing annoying - just like g1.
The Twins were in the sprit of the feel of G1.
Sideswipe was cool.
A surpising critique by the movie of indiscriminate aerial bombing, in populated areas with both sides in... that surprised me from Bay.
So all in all.... Much better stuff this time round, still plagued by horrible character design sometimes, but dammit I admit this was well worth having seen, as cheesy as it can be.
Oh and Humans suck. 😛

That little orange f***.
God, I hated G1 Wheelie. Such a pain in the ass. From the clip I saw, this Wheelie is at least a bit more tolerable.
I'm finally seeing the film tomorrow. So excited! This seems to be the ultimate summer action flick: Absolutely negative reviews from critics, loved by everyone else.
Another one that saw it here, It was a great film alot better then the first one
and Starscream attaching himself to a satillite??? Ummm no..........sounds like your friends Scythe don't know what he looks like
Also where was Soundwave? i did'nt spot him
as for the film a 9/10 just like Alpha Centauri.
Allright I saw the film. It was good and had explosions like only a Bay film can have... but the plot sucked. Which brings me to my biggest gripe the ending...
*SPOILERS*
The ending sucked so bad it almost ruins the movie for me. In it we see Prime fuse with the dead body of Jetfire. Meanwhile we seen The Fallen destroing planes and tanks with telekenisis like powers it is rather amazing. Yet Prime comes to fight him. I thought this will be good I assure you it is not. Imagine Luke killing both Vader and Sidious in seconds while on the DeathStar II... This is what happens here. Prime defeats Megatron in roughly 5 seconds. He then moves forward to The Fallen and kills him in even less time... It was very very anticlamtic. The fallen was supposed to be ridicilously powerful, hell he is shown pwning the original "primes" but Optimus Prime completley destroys him. It was downright bogus.
Just got back from this far-too-long film.
I'll preface my brief thoughts by stating that I know next to nothing about the Transformers mythos/I'm not the biggest fan, but I enjoyed the first film for what it was and went into this one with pretty low expectations. Unfortunately, I think my expectations were too high. This movie kind of sucked, and I wish I didn't feel this way, because I really wanted to like it. The gangster/racial twin robots, the lack of Optimus Prime, a lot of incomprehensible action/plot, mediocre acting, bad dialogue, TERRIBLE humor, there was no sense of heart or anything to make me really care about what was going on and after two and a half freakin' hours, the countless slow-mo explosions got to be a bit tedious. Michael Bay can direct action, to an extent, but he doesn't know how to build suspense or tension and therefore, he doesn't succeed at making any of the action matter.
That said, there were a couple good action sequences, like Optimus taking out those Decepticons in the forest and Bumblebee's brief grapple with those two robots. Megan Fox was hot and it was nice to see her breasts bounce up and down. Other than that, the cons definitely outweighed the pros, which is too bad. I feel like this movie/franchise/whatever has (or had) the potential to be a really enjoyable, epic good vs. evil tale on a pretty large scale, but it's bogged down by so many things.
Guess this was a bit less brief than I anticipated. Anyway, I'd give the film 4-5.5/10 depending on my mood.
I will say this though, this movie will probably rake in a shitload of money. People at my theater clapped after it was over as I walked out in a daze, feeling slightly dumber than when I went in.
Also, John Turturo ripping off his pants to reveal a white thong?! Wtf. There were too many of these kinds of moments.
My friend loves Transformers a lot and he loved this movie. He says it's his favorite movie so far this year and I was/am just kind of baffled. I asked him if he liked it better than The Dark Knight and he said yes.
I say, unless you're a fan of Transformers like my bud, save your money. Or at least spend it on a better movie that's in theaters, like Star Trek, Up or Drag Me to Hell.

dude, that same type of misplaced humor ruined the first Transformers for me. I understand Bay was going for a Spielberg sensibility but isn't that why they hired Shia lebeouf? I can enjoy the first Transformers up until the exact moment that Tuturos character is introduced. That's not a knock at Tuturo, but rather, the writing.
Did you at least have a good time with the movie...,you know, does it deliver as a fun summer blockbuster?

sort of how i felt. i've seen it three times, the last being in imax... and that was an experience. wasnt overall impressed with imax, but the forest fight scene was immense, and the scene where the twins and leo and turturros character are underneath devastator... seeing that fill up a massive screen with the 7.1 sound booming around you was possibly my favourite movie experience ever. it felt like iw as there and is the first time in a long while i've felt immersed in a scene.
still the rollercoaster effect like the first film in that theres good and bad but theres certainly more good bits than bad. i liked soundwave, both look and sound, looked a little like a mechanical angel orbiting earth. having ravage come from him was also a nice touch.
The autobots seem to be a lot stronger in ROTF.
In the first one ironhide and ratchet are pwned by starscream.
IN this one Optimus with dual swords pwned Starscream, megatron and grindor. True the fallen and megatron seems to be defeated too easily.
I think your being too harsh i really enjoyed it the whole point was autobots worked with NEST so the humans make a difference.
Skids and mudflap fighting Devastator! funniest thing ever!
Yeah, I caught the midnight showing last night.
It was really good.
There seemed to be some unnecessary special effects
Spoiler:and the comic relief was there a little too much
(like Optimus transforming so many times)
Spoiler:
(like mom eating pot brownies and the "balls" on the robot
at the end)
Other than that, I loved it.

Uh huh, I know what you mean. When Turturo's introduced in the first one, it's kind of downhill from there.
I mean, yeah, it's a fun action movie. But the last 45 minutes just get tedious with Michael Bay going "can I get an explosion in every frame?" There's more dumb humor in this one than in the first too, so if that misplaced humor ruined the first one for you, then you'll have a tough time with this one.
I say go see it though, maybe you'll like it more than I did. I mean, a ton of people here are giving it 8s and 9s out of 10, which I think is batshit crazy, but to each his own.
If you see it, let me know what you think.
Saw it midnight. Had an annoying audience they would scream and clap for everything. Pisses me off!! I thought it was better than the first one but it had its moments. I really cant stand megan fox cause shes such a terrible actress this including shia and his douchbag disgusting hand!!
Im glad megatron and starscream had more camera time. But scorpinok popping out of nowhere! WTF?!
