Depends. If it were mind-control, it wouldn't be an issue.

Possession would be using another's body as a medium (as you stated), in which case prior knowledge of the possessed being's powers is likely the only way one can know about their abilities...outside of something like cosmic awareness.

Does Ganondorf actually possess people, or can he control minds? Reason I ask is because those two can easily be confused.

I'm pretty sure theres no way to actually answer this question. Surfice to say him being in anothers body is circumstance enough to say that it isn't something he can definately always do.

Body, mind, powers it varies. We do know that his body was under, and that he was speaking in the same way so his mind must of been under at least some and finally we know that he had powers before Ganon came around.

Maybe but both methods and results were different. Like the twilight matter, talking in Ganons manner as was powerless [body disappeared before right?] or something.

The guy was infamous so its not a stretch to say that he could of known of his powers beforehand.

3:05, Ganondorf actually enters Zelda's body (note that it's a twilight based power). Yeah, it's possession, but I have doubts as to it being one of Ganondorf natural powers, as he claims to have eaten a lot of Twili magic.

As for mind control...that's actually one of Agahnim's powers, which he used to simultaneously control all of Hyrule's standing military. Assuming Agahnim truly is just an alter ego as Ganon claims, then he can control minds as well.

Agahnim cant be hurt by the MS, the opposites would happen if it was truly Ganon.

Edit: Just want to note that on every site ive checked [zelda ones, wikis etc] non of them call it lightning. Most common is energy ball's.

Farther down it says bunshin translates roughly to "split soul," and we still can't ignore the "alter ego" comment from Ganon himself.

Attacking Agahnim with the Master Sword electrocutes Link, dunno why it wouldn't work, since both are evil even assuming they're separate.

If you can prove its actual lightning, maybe.

edit: Which it doesn't appear to be. Never seen lightning that discharges globdules of liquid upon striking. Nor stay in the same pose long enough to have a fire surround it.
