There's no way anyone moved at 1km a second or higher during that span, and Sephiroth didn't fling Genesis, Genesis jumped.
Genesis did not jump, Genesis blocks Sephiroths hit, and goes flying that is why you see him still in a blocking stance as he flies up. Look at the fight a few seconds beforehand, also look further on he does a similar hit (Not as far, maybe 100+ metres). Also you don't see him bend at all to jump.

Yeah...I was wondering what he was talking about with that Sephiroth throwing Genesis shit...
You are a troll.

I argued with him about that? There is no way in hell that is 5 kilometers.
I am no longer saying it is 5 kilometers.

Haha, that isn't even a hundred meter 😄
You realise it would only take maybe 5 or so seconds of freefall to fall one hundred meters?

I would say a hundred feet at best...
You are either trolling me, or incredibly stupid, 100 feet is like 30 metres and would take maybe 2 seconds to freefall.

Also, Genesis doesn't freefall, he gets acceleration from Sephiroth hitting him + freefall + Sephiroth hitting him again. It would easily be 1000 metres.
Let's round his fall to 40 seconds, that would be 1200+ meters FREEFALL.
Something else worth noting is Genesis is travelling at least 140 m\s when he hits the cannon, yet it doesn't even buckle the cannon and Sephiroth took enough force on his body that crumpled the cannon. Seeing as Genesis traveled a distance of maybe 1 metre after impact it would have been 588000 N. (although we would have a lot more to take into consideration, this gives us a much lower number than if we included those things.)

I'm with Scream, it looks like Genesis jumped and flew backwards. I'll watch the rest of the video too.
I don't think telling the distance by the time it would take to freefall works very well here, the feat is not that impressive taking a look at it.
If you still want to know what it is though, you could use the Isosceles Triangle formulas to tell how far downwards Genesis went. It still involves guesses, but I would think it would give a more accurate number on how far downwards Genesis went.
I think he's talking about the accelleration of gravity being about 9 m/s so after you fall for 4 seconds the next second you fall will drop you 36 meters, so it looks like;
9, 18, 27, 36, 45
In those five seconds you've fallen far enough to hit terminal velocity, so you're probably not going to fall any faster, and I'm too lazy to do the math on where terminal velocity is. [just woke up] but it's probably less than 45 m/s.
Edit: that said, I think Killer's assumption is that Genesis was free-falling for the entire length of the clip after he jumped away from Sephiroth, and that somehow poves the distance he jumped/was apparently thrown by Sephiroth.
Clearly they were both psuedo flying in what amounts to a bad DBZ clip, as shown by what happens when Genesis burns Angeal's face, he falls away much faster.

I have yet to see anything Seph has that can hurt Link, tbh. He's doing fine for "LolIcanfly" and "Irtehspeedy", but Link can slow time, effectively nullifying Sephiroth's speed advantage, and Link could already react to him.Not to mention, Sephiroth's not dodging a comet
Then no offence, ur an idiot. Everything of his can hurt Link, supernova is one of the quickest ways, speedblitz cutting him in half(Link isn't quick enough to slow time down before Seph cuts him in half) Seph can teleport behind him and murder him, he cuts through gigantic thick pieces of steel like butter, and black materia.
Sephiroth will just summon the meteor and make them collide, and yes Seph can dodge a comet, that is actually very easy for him to do.

The difference is Seph gets carved up by Cloud. |:Link's stronger than Cloud.
Link's withstood a force greater than 8494 tons of PSI, and been totally unharmed by it. >_> Just sayin', Sephiroth will never be able to create that much force. amd so he won't break Link's skin.
The difference on that is that Seph wasn't trying against Cloud, he only used his speed and his sword, oh and a little teliquinisis
True, still Link is alittle girl
Didn't Link get hurt when he fell off of something before? Seph also was hit by Clouds sword and didn't even get cut.
Originally posted by ScreamPasteNo, he cannot. Even if Link is the minimally supersonic speed you claim he is, Sephiroth is faster.
Link can. |: And it's still a moot point because Sephiroth can't hurt him. And if Link needed to slow time, he could simply cast Nayru's love before he pulls out the ocarina to prevent Sephiroth from attacking it.
And at half of Sephiroth's speed, he is still faster than Link.
Supersonic /reaction time/, I'm not claiming Link can run at mach 1, just that he can react to sonic booms.
And at half of Sephiroth's speed, Link will easily be able to land a hit on Sephiroth and totally obliterate the poor guy. |:
@Wil, no, Link's never taken damage from falling in canon.
How is Link a little girl? He's manlier than Sephiroth... Throwing giant Gorons > holding a long dialogue with Cloud about how you're going to "give him despair"

Cloud's sword isn't the Blade of Evil's Bane, built to destroy evil.
