So just because Uncharted 2 may or may not be GoTY I should be playing it no matter what? Utter nonsense. These days there are more game reviewers(websites, magazines) than you can shake a stick at and they all give out their own GoTY rewards. Hell, some of them give out GoTY genre by genre. Bottom line, receiving a GoTY these days is not that of a big deal anymore.

By all three system I assume you mean PS3, Xbox360 and Wii? I own none of them and I'm probably more of a gamer than most people who frequent this site.

EDIT: Just a quick question here for you: have you played every game that has received a GoTY award?

Generally 3rd person shooters will never be as popular as 1st person shooters.

I personally like very few of either. Can't stand Halo or Gears of war for example. Yet, as i've mentioned, I like the "conflict" series although denied ops was terrible.

I get more offended at people making bad games than playing bad games. Modern Warfare certainly isn't a bad game. It won game of the year from many sources and is listed in the top 3 best FPS of all time by gametrailers. It's awards lists are huge. So if it's anything to go by then MW2 will be critically considerd to be superb.

Your personal taste prefers something else...Other people's doesn't. Nothing to get offended by.

I certainly don't get offended when people choose to go and watch the likes of epic movie at the cinema because I prefer something with more depth.

Most give out a GOTY award by genre and then an overall GOTY per platform. I don't care about random nobody video game bloggers though, kotaku, ign, 1up, gamespot, I'd bet money they all name Uncharted 2 GOTY.

You really should consider getting a PS3, you don't really need a 360 (I assume from your post you are a PC gamer) since all the exclusives and AAA games released will come out on PC and not only look better but play better in a lot of cases, but since PS3 exclusives don't get PC releases (T_T)you should really consider getting a PS3. There are some great exclusives you are missing.

Namely what PS3 exclusives? Resistance 2, KZ2, Heavy Rain, GoW3, Uncharted 2. None of these games have piqued my interest(with maybe a slight exception for GoW3).

I've preferred more 3rd person shooters than 1st person shooters over the years too. I just recognise that more people buy 1st person shooters.

For example...MW...12m copies sold...gears of war...5.8m

Gears 2 has done 11m...Here's to what MW2 will do if it's already has 1.5m pre orders.

The gap will probably be even bigger over all platforms given that FPS are the staple of PC gaming.

RE5 isn't going to win GOTY, it as a bit of the a disappointment to be honest after RE4, especially after Deadspace kicked the survival horror genre in nuts for a much needed boost. AC2 would need to be a huge improvement over the fist one to be a contender (which based on the development videos, interviews and game play clips, it does seem to be). MW2 looks better than WoA but not as good as CoD4, it could take GOTY in a shooter category but I'm hoping L4D2 snags that.

All those games and their predecors, but also Infamous, MAG, LBP, and Rachet. I guess some people expect a surprise GT5 release for this holiday season... but I couldn't care less about a racing game.

Yeah there is a reason so many developers "delayed" games until early 2010 to get the hell out of the way of MW2. The sales are going to be crazy, higher than expected IMO. MW2 is a rolling ball of destruction that will consume the sales of everything in its path.

Probably has a fair bit to do with the economic climate as well. A fair amount of people's disposable income may only stretch to 1 game every few months and no doubt MW2 will take a massive chunk of that.

I also do think that the expectation of the game may be more than the execution of it...Same problem that GTA4 had.

The more people that buy it then the better the online experience will be. More chance of extra content being developed for it etc.

Like i've said already though, I have my trepidations for the online aspects in terms of map sizes and a few other things which annoyed me from the 1st MW game.

Time will tell though. I will reserve my judgement until i've played it for a decent amount of time.

i honestly dont see where srank is coming from. uncharted 2 looks s0o0o0o boring. why should i pay money for a boring, completely unrealistic Indiana jones game? why should i reward naughty dog for making a game that bores me?

You've seen the demos for Uncharted 2 and MW2, and you think Uncharted 2 is the one that looks boring? Are you high? I guess comparing the nonstop action of the Uncharted 2 E3 demo and the new train level, to the boring as shit 10 minute long MW2 snow level never occurred to you? Everything we've seen from Uncharted 2 is practically ripped out of a summer block buster. 😐

But alas, I have compassion for my fellow man, and must help them see the light! It is my burden. My friend, I understand you fear the unknown, and playing anything other than a paint by the numbers yearly CoD and Madden confuses and upsets you, but trust me, it really isn't that scary.

Also... buy Brutal Legend and L4D2, before you get MW2 as well.

well the problem is that i beat uncharted 1 and it sucked, and the video for uncharted 2 looks like its the same shit. so i just cant see it. its kind of funny how you totally ignore what everyone else is actually saying. if the game is as good as it is then it doesnt people like you trolling around the internet, in fact honestly you make people less inclined to buy it. i think itd be funny to not buy it just to spite you.

So far your the only individual thats hinting MW2 sucks and instead should get uncharted 2 so what "fellow" people are you standing up for?

Also, L4D1 gets incredibly boring after a while and its extremely cliche so no, i don't think i am wasting my money on number 2.

This thread is for discussing MW2, not whining about how you think other games are better. Especially when the other games are just as cookie-cutter as the one you're complaining about.
