Casting is said to involve both a female lead and a female villain
An actress short list for The Dark Knight Rises has turned up online, courtesy of Deadline.

Actresses that Christopher Nolan has been rumored to have met with include Anne Hathaway, Keira Knightley, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz. The original article suggests that Nolan is casting for two different female roles, both that of Bruce Wayne's romantic interest and that of a female villain.

The Dark Knight Rises will star returning actors Christian Bale, Michael Caine and Gary Oldman as well as the recently-announced Tom Hardy in an unspecified role. The film will go into production shortly with a release planned for July 20, 2012.

What about Morgan Freeman?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think Catwoman can carry a movie as the main villain.

IMO, she needs to be the side villain in order to work (see Batman Returns as an example)

Agreed. Catwoman should be a side villain if she is in the movie.

new rumor...

Several websites are taking Teresa Palmer's quotes as confirmation that Talia Al Ghul is in Dark Knight Rises. I don't think what she says verifies it, but read for yourself:

if they try and put talia in this movie fine but DUCARD had better not be her farther....in batman begins they pissed me of to no end with putting "Ras Al Ghul" in the movie only to have ducard to come in and pretend to be him....if they did not want unrealistic characters then they shouldn't have had them in the movie....they could have easily changed it from ras to any old name and have had ducard come back with that name then in another movie have talia be in the movie and make a very sub textile hint at her father being immortal

^ Wow, somebody is angry.

lol yea that was the one and only thing that got to me about BB...other then that i thought it was great....so im really in hopes they don't bring that into the next movie....unless talia is the daughter of the real ras

I think you need to watch the movie again. Ducard wasn't pretending to be Ra's al Ghul, he was revealed to BE Ra's al Ghul; so in fact he was pretending NOT to be Ra's (until he revealed his actual identity at the end). Ken Watanabe was the one pretending to be Ra's at the beginning of the film.

I don't see the issue...

I always felt that plot point could be read in different ways.
Since Nolan wouldn't have room in his universe for something supernatural like a Lazarus Pit, this could be the way Ras Al Ghul's immortality is maintained; a ready successor takes the name when the head of the League Of Shadows falls. That's how Ducard could have become the new Ras, if you look at it that way.

Might Nolan cameo Heath Ledger in the film, in some digital form?

http://www.showbizspy.com/article/220178/heath-ledger-not-appearing-in-new-batman-movie.html

Denials here. But if his family was okay with it, and they put his face on a body double, that would be fine with me!

That would be a terrible idea. Nolan wants the film as a whole to get the attention it deserves. A Ledger cameo could potentially overshadow the rest of the film.

Btw, Nolan dropped Superman to focus strictly on Batman.

As in, dropped temporarily?

No, as in Superman is moving on without Nolan's help.

Also, Eckhart confirmed that he is not in Dark Knight Rises, which begs the question, how many times do they have to confirm this? http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=72104

Ouch, that's a shame. I was really looking forward to seeing Nolan's take on the man of steel...

Heh, yeah.

about two-face i have been wondering that myself

Nothing Strange for Hardy

Lovers of the 1989 classic, it seems that our beloved reporting Vicki Vale will reemerge in Batman:The Dark Knight Rises.

In a recent radio interview with a British actor Christian Bale who plays Batman mentioned a possible new member of the third film in the saga, no less than the reporter Vicki Vale, among many possible affairs of Batman, it seems that Vicki is a step ahead of its competitors, as the interpreter of Bale Batman cited, but the surprise does not end here, the latest singer to embark on the big screens in the world Christina Aguilera seems more considered for the role because of the great similarity between the singer and character and also its natural sensuality with comical air, reminding us of our very dear Kim Basinger's 1989 classic Batman, Christian Bale describes beauty as "interesting and sexy", rumors already take for granted their participation, one thing is certain we agree with Bale, the girl is really sexy, another coincidence that this statement is one of the writers said that a possible "Batman's love interest" is seen on the big screen again, and might there be a rivalry in the new sequel, after all Vicki is the height of an opponent's Catwoman, which we will reserve the third film in the saga.

Negotiations are taking place, after finishing his film Burlesque, Christina Will accept a new challenge at the cinema?

^ Not sure I believe this. There is no reliable source about it anywhere. Vicki Waiting (and 1 other name that is probably the same person/bot) is just posting this everywhere on the net.
