"Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story. And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story... I'm very excited about the end of the film, the conclusion, and what we’ve done with the characters. My brother has come up with some pretty exciting stuff. Unlike the comics, these things don’t go on forever in film and viewing it as a story with an end is useful. Viewing it as an ending, that sets you very much on the right track about the appropriate conclusion and the essence of what tale we're telling. And it hearkens back to that priority of trying to find the reality in these fantastic stories."

I think Bruce might hang up the cape at the end here. We'll see another Batman film, but it will probably come to us as a reboot in the distant future.

Nolan did, however WB can certainly do their best to convince him to return.. Not saying it will happen, but you just never know and at this point even he may not know until after the film is done.. remember Nolan was thinking about not returning but now he has

Let's hope its the very distant future. Like 10 or 15 years.

If it weren't for Ledger's death, I'm sure Nolan would've undoubtedly had a 4th film or something beyond that down the line.. Ah well.

i think this is bollocks....

That's interesting but I don't think so.

Ra's Al Cool is a moron. I think he is intentionally backing up ridiculous rumors for the fun of watching fans online freak out. He also supports Bane being CGI.

One rumor I was reading about today on BOF is Marion Cotillard may have been cast as the 2nd female lead. Jett's guess is that she is Talia.

Looks legit enough.

And looks like we may be dealing with Arkham and maybe some Joker. I don't know.

Hardy talks Bane...

Rumour has it that Marion Cotillard is playing Talia, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt is playing Black Mask.

Man, if that really turns out to be true (which I somewhat doubt), then looks like Nolan is going all out for the Grand Finale. I mean, that's a hell of a lot of characters to develop in a maximum 3 hour film.

I doubt it. Nolan would know that he can't develop all of those characters in a 3 hour movie so I doubt he will include so many villains. But Talia and Black Mask would have been good for the fourth movie. I know Nolan won't come back but if he would have came back, those two villains would have been great to see.

I don't see it happening either, and their names are a little too big for smaller roles. I say just keep it as is, or this will be dangerously close to going down the Spider-Man 3 route.

i think Marion may play Vicki Vale, as for Levitt, if Black Mask it could be a case where he is already the character

That seems more reasonable, a supporting female character as a news reporter rather than another love interest.

And I guess Levitt's Black Mask character can be more of a Sal Maroni (Dark Knight) or Carmine Falcone (Batman Begins) type of supporting villain.

Hmmm.... Let's hope Dark Knight Returns.

I see what you did there 👆

They were fine, supporting villains with a decent amount of contribution to the story. IMO a Black Mask character would be perfect for that kind of role.

Pretty much agree, especially if it was like how Black Mask was in Batman: Under the Red Hood (minus the constant temper tantrums and such).
