Solid movie.

Time to post the swallowing of your own ***hole on youtube.

P.S. Your post gave me a boner, it's basically what I am expecting. 🙂 Thanks for the input.

With the shaky camera feel like from cloverfield how much of the film is like that ?

Its not that bad at all. It uses the same shaky technique but the action scenes aren't filmed like there's a guy running around wildly with a handheld camera.

I plan to see this Sunday. I'm genuinely interested in seeing this.

few more hours 😄

must sneak in the alcohol

I enjoyed it.

Did it have cheese, silliness and some sappiness? Sure. Like BF said, "solid movie"; one of the better Sci-Fi I've seen in the last few years.

I do wish they'd spent more time explaining why the aliens came to Earth and with the whole social aspect of the aliens and humans.

I hate you.

No 🙁 shut up

fcuking movie sucked. I couldn't wait to leave. it was the most boring movie i've seen in theatres this year.

fcuk, was this supose to be some kinda subtle comedy. it always felt like that corney south african pipskweak was always trying to forcefully be funny with his south african accent especially when he would say "fock!" 100 percent of all his jokes were unfunny.

he was just unrealistically naieve too.

And the aliens felt just, off. They were the more technologically advance species, so they were smarter than humans were, they're phisically stronger than humans are. (meaning they have super strength), their weapons were just untouchable, figuratively and literally, they were there almost a quarter century yet they made no kinda progress whatsoever? They were trashpickers and were taken advantage of by a lesser kind? It didn't fit. And the humanoid/roach look didn't do anything for me.

and what happened to this social message that was suppose to be the idea or lesson.

the only cool thing about this movie was the way those soldiers of fortune kept getting wholly obliterated. that's it. otherwise they movie was one stupedous bore. I had to struggle to stay up in some parts.

I give this movie a 2/10. the lowest score i've ever giver a film.

You might have missed where the guy with the "corney South African accent" said something like 'these are the workers, the leaders, the ones that know things are no longer here'.

BTW, that was a genuine South African accent.

Yeah, I agree. I was really curious as to how/why the aliens arrived at Earth. I kept thinking that maybe I missed a line of dialogue at the beginning that mentioned it, but I don't think so.

Anyway, I liked this movie quite a bit. Rarely are "summer movies" non-formulaic/original/unique, but this one was. The CGI was great and not overdone, it was integrated into the film well. Blomkamp made the viewer sympathetic for the aliens, which is something a lot of alien sci-fi films fail to do. What I loved about this movie is that they illustrated the aliens as individuals; so often when you see aliens in a sci-fi movie, they all act as one, ie a collective, or it's assumed or hinted at that the entire race shares the same belief and thought process. Not in District 9. The aliens here are like, well, people.

The action was great, better than Terminator Salvation or Transformers 2.

Acting was solid, score was adequate, pacing was good. The film wasn't perfect though. There were a few times where I found myself angry with the protagonist for being stupid and making poor decisions. I also found myself underwhelmed by the ending. I think most of my problems were with what they didn't do as opposed to what was actually in the movie.

Overall though, what we got here with District 9 was an original piece of science-fiction/action entertainment, and with a brain! It's not mindless fun, it's engaging fun.

8.5/10

Between this and Moon, it's been a decent year for sci-fi films this year. Here's hoping Avatar delivers the goods.

Saw it. Loved it. Brilliant.

Meaning the subtle (non-funny) comments he'd make throughout the first half of the movie.

He was always trying to be funny with snide remarks and lite sarcasm while acting innocently jovial as if seeming nice and smiley would make audiences forget that his jokes were corny, and laugh along anyway.

He reminded me or a corny Borat sometimes.

And that's when he was being nice (and unfunny) What about when he acted like a dcik. (and was still unfunny while trying to be)

"Don't ye point yorr focking tentacles at mii, eh..! sign heerr!"

lol, god.

I dunno. I thought this movie was going to be just a tad bit smarter and more conscious that the regular popcorn blockbuster i've already had my fill of this summer, with it being a fresh breath air in the genre, just at least this once, but it ended up being another blockbuster action summer film.

But i'll have to admit that last 30-20 mins. he performed well. He managed and excellent display of raw and realistic emotion in relation to the situation he was in. To bad the itch to do so came too late.

Come on now, it was certainly at least a "tad" smarter than say Wolverine or GI Joe, which were bottom of the barrel in that (and every) category.

How so?

This came across as a conscious portrayal of social injustice with a lesson when it was really more of an action popcorn movie the likes of Term. Sal. or any other one of the summer action flick that's came out. Sure it had the sci fi element but still. That ideal could've still've been implemented and not impacted the sci-fi...-ness of it.

Imo, this movie's not smarter than any of the others in any way.

And damn did it bite hard off of "Ironman" with the heads up display in that mech suit.

w/e. i had higher expectations for this movie and they weren't met.

If a movie has ANYTHING to say, then it's automatically smarter than G.I. Joe or Wolverine. So there you go. District 9>>>>>both those films.
