What Would you do if there was a Zombie Apocalypse?

The odd thing is that that 1st example Zombie is a dead ringer for a zombie RJ.

Minus assless leather chaps, of course.

Kudos to you RJ, you are the greatest zombie resembler I have known.

I am Legend is definitely not based on Zombies, since they have to be dead or absolutely mindless to qualify as that, which they, expressedly were not (whole point of the book), they might be best described as a mix of Vampire and some modern takes on Ghouls.

TY, Herr Bardock.

See...? Das Deutchlander ist right..!!!!

Unfortunately, you're wrong. You are using a restricted definition. Even the author said his "zombies" were based on "zombies and vampires". Too bad, though.

I can write a book, make some zombies, and give the zombies the power to do math. 😐

Na, Bardock is correct here.

Matheson was specific about implying there were vampires, but non mystical vampires, as he used science to try and explain how they turned so, bacteria was the likely cause. It was a crucial part of Neville's development, as he studied science and the 'vampires'.

They were also two types of vampires, those that died human and became infected, only to rise again and those that turned while still alive. They both were intelligent enough though.

Nah. It is also included in "zombie" classifications from some point of views as well. Also, considering it influence "zombies" in popular culture also furthers the point of how it was taken.

It is just as I stated, zombie and vampire.

There's correct, and then there's most correct. I am most correct in my statement.

The author says and makes several references to "vampires". I'll take him as the foremost scholar on his own work. Maybe that's just me.

Neville is immune to the 'vampire disease' because he was bitten by a "vampiric bat", just one example of how the story alludes to vampires.

EDIT: And the obvious, they shun the daylight.

And then there's the fact that they feed on humans and have very little human brain ability. Sounds an aweful lot like zombies. 😐

Now do you see why his work influenced the potrayal of the zombies? 🙂

Again, you're correct, just not the most correct. His work was influenced by zombies and vampires.

What would make them Zombies then? Sure, you could call them Zombies, you could make them be called Zombies within your book, maybe you could even get people to call them zombies, but there's little reason behind it.

Wrong again.

Both the living and undead vampires are intelligent, they think, talk and scheme. Remember his friend who was an undead one, how he used to taunt him to come out every night? That doesn't sound "mindless" to me.

Did you read the book?

You're incorrect, sir. Just accept it. BTW, the book influence the concept of world wide pandemic, not really "zombie pandemic", as they were vampires.

Yes, because of his portrayal of an apocalyptic setting caused by the beings and the treatment of the Vampirism as a disease, in a more scientific way. That's why. Not because of them being Zombies, they aren't.

Odd, because I remember Day of the Dead zombies having more intelligence than your usual zombie. 😉

I guess you can't win them all, Robtard.

If if by "read the novel" you intended to trap me with the novel showing clearly that the zombies in Legend were actually much more intelligent than Robert realized, then, yes, I read the novel. I guess you thought you would trap me with some sort of ploy there, but, sorry, it won't work...I'm not as stupid as you think and those types of traps only work when I try them. 😆

No matter what you say, no matter how you say it, no matter how many times you do it, you can never change the fact that the zombies in Legend and the movie I am Legend are similiar to zombies. To be more precise, they are the combination of two difference types: Zombies and Vampires. The movie's version, I am Legend, are much more like zombies than the novel's...which is what I was talking about when this whole discussion started.

I don't understand why you continue to disagree when I am the more correct person....it's just varying degrees of "correctness".

Well if you're saying that they're zombies and someone else specifies that they're Zombies or Vampries that person would be more correct. And if they act more like Vampires than Zombies they'd be even more correcter than you.

You are just so delusional it is silly.

Anyways, by standard definition they fit much better into the realm of Vampire and Ghoul than Zombie, I think your problem really just comes from the influence I Am Legend had on the Zombie genre, easy mistake to make, no worries.

Here you go again. There's nothing to "win" here, you're just stating untruths about the book and the movie.

You said they had "very little brain activity", when in the book they were intelligent, that is a fact you can't ignore, you are clearly wrong there. Tis why I asked. So, let me ask this, if you read the book, why did you claim they were basically mindless? If you just don't recall the book well, that's fine.

They're non-mystical vampires, undead and living in the book and mutated humans in the movie. They're also not mindless in the movie, as the alternate ending shows us they "care" about each other and have compasion, when the leader let Smith live. They also breath and sleep. Not zombie-like.

Edit: In regards to DOTD, they had little intelligence, a few of them at least. Nothing compared the the vampires in the book, or the mutated humans in the movie.

"Intelligent" is very relative. You should know that. 😉

Relative to humans, the zombies in Legend are very stupid. 🙂 I didn't. Quote me where I said, "they are basically mindless" in reference the book's Zombies. 🙂

Alternate ending is not canon. I win.

Nah. They had much more intelligent form of speech than the zombies in I am Legend. Nice try, though. 😄

Edit -

Now, negate the fact that they exhibit traits of zombie and vampire, please.

Rather, what you should do is admit that I am right. 🙂

This was your response my statement about the the book's vampires:

Anyhow, you're starting to do that DDM thing when you just can't accept you were incorrect about something. Re-read the book if you must, they're intelligent as they were before infection and clearly portrayed as vampires.

🙂

Would you like the difference explained? 🙂

No need too. You should know why.

No need too. You should know why.

The undead vampires which included Neville's former best friend Ben talked as they did before the death/infection, they plotted together to get him, the females would try to entice Neville with sexual innuedo etc. Sounds very "human brain activity" to me.

The living vampires had started to rebuild society, that definitely sounds human to me.

Edit: My copy says "the most clever and rivinting VAMPIRE novel since Dracula." on the cover.

It's also referrenced as the "the first modern vampire story" many a time. Just some food for thought, DDM.
