If you got bitten or scratched by a zombie you probably wouldn't be able to shoot yourself in the head. Through almost every zombie movie, a person is about to shoot himself in the head but when he pulls the trigger, bullets don't come out. It's like the undead have a magical ability to make the bullets disappear before you blow your tasty brain out.

No one is denying the Vampiric element of the novel. Why do you keep arguing this point?

Zombies = animated DEAD, they are nothing but walking corpses. The "creatures" in I Am Legend are far from zombies. The same as the infected in the 28 Days movies, they are just infected people, not dead people.
That's your personal take on Zombies but in no way reflects an all encompassing definition.

Why are you implying there's a "zombie element", when there clearly isn't. Vampires, it was just about vampires in the non-mystical sense.
The book was a inspiration in Romero's NOTLD, in the sense of world-wide infestation apocalypse, there's the connection; not I Am Legend = Zombie genre.

So why does just about everyone refer to it as such? dur
Why do some people say their zombie movie has it's roots with Legend? dur
Seems fairly retarded to make a movie about your definition of zombies based on a novel about VAMPIRES. AHA! Did we get get wooden stakes through the heart? Garlic? Silver? Crosses? All of those concepts were around, back in the day. Hmm...so wait, did he derrive some of the characteristics for his creatures based on...gulp...zombies?
Now why the crap would I also consider his novel to have roots with zombies? Why would he(Matheson) do the same? It makes no sense what you're saying. Sure, vampiric humans. Great. We've established that. No matter how much you want it to be purely Vampiric, it's not. It has nice zombie elements to it. 🙂
Hey, Robtard, Zombic Vampires! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!!

Who refers to I Am Legend as a "zombie novel" or "zombie genre"?
I explained that already twice and Bardock explained it once. The aspect of "world apocalypse and disease.", that influenced the zombie genre, as you rarely have a movie about just one zombie, it's usually an apocalypse sort of scenario. See: NOTLD as a pioneer in the genre.
Not really following you there, something can influence without being exact, but the garlic, wooden stakes (which Neville later learned weren't necessary,) crosses, mirrors, sunlight weakness, blood sucking/draining etc all have nothing to do with the zombie genre, but the vampire genre instead. Which is what the book is about, vampires.
When has Matheson referred to his novel as anything "zombies"? He makes a clear point to paint the infected as vampire-like, the garlic, sunlight, pale skin, bloodshot eyes, teeth, fear of reflection, Neville being immune due to previous vampiric bat bite, etc. all refer to a vampire element, not zombie.
Not so and it wouldn't be as cool as vampiric-werewolves. There's also no reason to be a jerk with the retard emotes and pompousness, we're having a discussion.

Then what's the point of even using the term zombie then? A zombie is the animated dead. There's no other way of putting it.
A zombie is a mythical creature that appears in folklore and popular culture typically as a reanimated corpse or a mindless human being. Stories of zombies originated in the Afro-Caribbean spiritual belief system of Vodou, which told of the people being controlled as laborers by a powerful sorcerer.
Still not the intelligent "let's rebuild civilization" guys from I am Legend, though.

That's not how it works, but you do have a Michael Scott trait, I just noticed. The more upset you get the more immature your posts become. It's fun to watch.

Dude, I never stopped being immature. It was like that from post #1 in this thread. But it's certainly fun to see what you'll post next. Varying degrees of dick. Sometimes, you're such an a**hole with your posts that I literally bust up laughing. This is not intended as an underhanded compliment, either. George Carland and Lewis Black are among my favorite comedians for a reason.

George Carland? Nice.
Anywho, don't get too upset, you were wrong, most people would just admit it and move on, you had to get more and more immature, until you reached the 5 year old "NUH UH, I WIN I WIN" level. Different people deal differently with failure, that's just how you do it.

Odd, I was of the opinion that no one was wrong, but that I was the most correct. Weird how you spun that. 🙂
