compromise is fine. it's just really hard to do . . . i'm fine with say, 2 minutes prpe but no tech creation beyond what's brought in by each, but then you bring in the issue can standard equipment be merged, yadda-yadda. it's just REALLY hard to grant prep AND find a way to NOT have people use it to make just barely believeable prep plans.

this is way different. it's a vs match with judges. you don't drop in and say "he wins". you need actual proof and need to be convincing enough to win a judgement. gimme a match where characters decide it over a match where the person who can make the least ludicrous plan in prep can win it. making plans is fun and you get ot be creative and all that--but once the match starts it's all about defending prep, and the characters don't matter. that's crap.

it's different because you need to be BETTER than in a forum match. i like paul's attempt at compromise. it's just hard to find a good one that isn't exploited and abused.

The problem is, the prep is practically a necessity for coming up with original ideas. Otherwise, it's just another battlezone type thread.
As for the so-called abuse, give me a break. You do the best you can to close the loopholes and you don't let people break the rules. Other than that, you can't really do jack. Prep shenanigans are here to stay in any tournament. There's always someone willing to push the envelope.
All you really need are judges willing to look outside the box abit, but grounded enough to stop blatent violations. ...........And for god's sake do not let Evangel have any part of this. leftright
