you mean those in heaven CAN'T be brought back, right?

I don't know. People who are in peace moved on. So I guess either Hell, or Heaven. However, there is a new interview, and I don't think that's the case anymore.

Dove is a pacifist, so that may have something to do with it.

"IGN Comics: Actually that was a question I had. Does that scene speak more to the power of Dove or the nature of the rings?

Johns: Dove. You'll learn more about this as we go forward. But really it speaks to the nature of Don Hall. He can't be desecrated by the likes of these things. He's untouchable in death and at total peace more than any other being in the universe."

Yeah, Nekron as an established GL villian who is literally a god of death just HAD to play a part. Especially considering Johns' fetish for whipping out obscure characters and bad-ass-ifying them.
that's quite an understatement. while nekron may embody an aspect of death [along with black racer and death of the endless] he has never been written to be some 'all powerful' entity... nothing even close to that, in fact. hell, captain atom alone has owned him in the past by absorbing his energies.

but now johns is going to make him 'possibly the most powerful cosmic entity ever'?? that's stretching things quite a bit.... even for him.

Maybe, he found the black lantern which powers him even stronger. Or maybe they are just changing him completely.

They're all "possibly the most powerful cosmic entity ever," so meh. If they make the Anti-Monitor his b*tch, however, I'll be upset. He was the first "most powerful ever" and, honestly, one of the best.

The Anti-Monitor was sort of already made his b*tch at the end of Green Lantern #25.

Not to mention the Spectre last issue. facepalm

Anti-Monitor should have never been brought back, only to job throughout the entire Sinestro Corps series (which was excellent otherwise). It would be like bringing back Darkseid in two years, and having him lose to Superman over and over. It would cheapen what he had become by the end of FC. AM was as ominous a super-villain as has ever been created. I'm sad.

in the words of alan moore, "they're raping the character!"

except in this case, you can change that to plural form. srsly

Isn't he like a prisoner in the Black Lantern?

this is more than likely the case. i mean, nekron has never been able to enter the material world under his own power. instead, he has just been able to peer through openings in the fabric of space/time.

but as we've seen, the black rings have made it possible for those that are seemingly dead to cross back through the void, and return to the world of the living as 'zombies' [an act so unnatural, that even deadman could hardly handle it.] so by that premise, it's logical to assume the black lantern power source is what has enabled nekron to physically enter the mainstream reality, and/or boosted his powers - [plus, you know, it's been mentioned in one of johns' interviews.]

😛

i like it, tbh. johns has been saying for ages that he wants to build the gl universe up. if that means taking obscure villains (like he did with black hand, which worked spectacularly imo) and turning them in to big players, then i'm all for it.

wouldn't be the first time he'd done it.

When Johns usually has a certain view on a character, prior history, characterization or powerlevel is irrelevant, he will still write them the way he wants them to be, even throwing a retcon in the process to shut you up. And who are the editors to argue ? ermm

For me, it's not the reinvention of old and obscure characters, but his disregard for current major players. Namely Spectre and anyone who comes in contact with Superboy Prime, prime himself included.

spectre is powerless against the black lanterns, and rightly so, imo.

what about prime?

also, we know that johns (as philo said) puts story before any power levels...

Spectre seems powerless against everybody these days.

spectre [god's vengence] being powerless against anything is ludacris, imo. especially since he's been able to affect the dead several times in the past. *shrugs*
