Either way, if he can stop Spectre in his tracks then he must be powerful.

Seeing as how everyone and their mother can stop the Specter according to Johns, beating him is less impressive then beating Batman at this point.....

spectre [god's vengence] being powerless against anything is ludacris, imo. especially since he's been able to affect the dead several times in the past. *shrugs*

how you doing paul.

How was the last issue I havent read it yet?

blackest night 2.

what's out so far, and i've tried to put them in order:

Green Lantern #43 (Prologue)
Blackest Night #0 (Prologue)
Blackest Night #1
Green Lantern Corps #39
Green Lantern #44
Blackest Night Batman #1
Blackest Night #2

You'd be fine just picking up Blackest Night 1 & 2 if you're only interested in the story itself.

They're using the DoV trend, where Spectre was simplified into magic. (hey, it's not like he gets his power from God, let's just call it magic and leave it at that). From the recent Geoff Johns interview, Nekron laughs at magic. Thus Nekron laughs at Spectre.

It makes perfect sense. dur

what makes it even more dissapointing is that after the final issue of "revelations", i thought for sure spectre was going to be back to his uber self again.

... i was wrong. 🙁

tales of the corps don't seem to fit in at all, imo. they provide background to some of the corps, but bar that, they don't seem to be that integral to Blackest Night...

Most of the stories are set before Blackest Night. But you can read them at any time because all of them are self-contained. And despite getting some bad review, I enjoyed them a lot.

The Mongul story also makes the Superman story, For the Man who has Everything, in continuity.

If you really liked Saint Walker, Arisa or (forgotten her name) the Red Lantern with the broken wings, pick it up. Otherwise it's just back stories.

Bleeze is the Red Lantern...

She was kinda a funny one in that for months there had been snippets of her origin that were presented as well-known lore...I thought I had missed an issue somewhere during Rage of the Red Lanterns or Sinestro Corp War???

Pretty brutal how she was 'made' (for a comic book anyway).
