Nekron standing up to the anti-monitor
The White Lantern Corps
The returned heroes (and the fact that he even brought back some villains, which was a really nice touch imo)
Finding out who DIDN'T come back.
Aquaman and Mera together again.
Larfleeze pwning himself.
and of course, the White Lantern.

All those little moments that for me made BN 8 a great issue.

yeah, but when you see the battery, you see a bunch of regular people looking over it. Could there be a twist? Maybe someone will be the guardian of the universe. A new character perhaps.

I foresee a possible Guardian of the Universe title in the near future.

That... that was absolutely --

Spoiler:
AWFUL
.

i am hoping kyle or maybe guy..

I'm hoping it's an entirely new character. I hope all the earth Lantern's stay GL's. Kyle, Guy, John, and Hal.

I enjoyed Blackest Night #8 and the arc in total. I think if they had cut out a lot of the superfluous tie ins and maybe had Blackest Night last 6 issues instead of 8, it may have come out better. I personally don't see how people can claim it was awful - it obviously wasn't that terrible - but to each their own.

I think this was the first necessary semi-reboot in DC since the original Crisis. The 2nd two Crises were superfluous in terms of story/universe/character importance, imo. I don't see this arc as having been a great story (it wasn't terrible, but I wasn't the hugest fan), but facilitating a function that the DC chiefs deemed necessary.

BN was unnecessarily slow.

Spoiler:
Blackest Night passed out a lot of phoenix downs, which is ok I guess because I'll get to see these characters again.

Phoenix downs... 😂

aye.

Boy, Johns just loves resurrecting characters, doesn't he? First he has SBP retcon-punch several of them into existence during IC, and now he has the white entity speechify a bunch of them back to life? Jesus.

Now there's going to be a WLC? Awesome. I guess the other 9 Corps just weren't enough.

The only halfway interesting bit in the whole comic is the fact that AM is alive again -- I'm sure he'll play a part in some of the horrible GL events to come.

👇 / facepalm / srsly / none to the entire event. At no point did it genuinely interest me.

i'm happy j'onn i back

osiris too , now he's the only one empowered by wizard shazam

Anti-Monitor was the one ray of white light that unfortunately wasn't enough to brighten the darkness that was Blackest Night.

Blackest Night phailed as hard as my half-hearted attempt at the above pun. And it was because Johns actually got me interested with certain hooks and he literally crapped on, or completely ignored the best hooks (IMHO) of Blackest Night:

- How will the massacre of Sector 666 ultimately connect to Blackest Night?
- Why is the Power of Will so important, i.e., why does Will + another emotion sever BLC connections? why did the BLC wait to attack the Central Power Battery when they hit 100%?
- What will happen when Nekron tries to raise Batman?
- What did Hal's father say to him at his moment of death?
- How did the emergence of the combined Corps in the War of Light bring about Blackest Night and how will the various Corps' combined power end it?
- Is Sinestro truly the greatest Lantern of them all?

Spoiler:
It's the last two that pissed me off the most. Sinestro Corps War was wonderfully entertaining, but one of my favorite parts was the revelation that even the Sinestro Corps' defeat served Sinestro's master plan in manipulating the fears of the Guardians. And that fear would bring about the War of Light... which in turn would fulfill the prophecy of the Blackest Night. And it was all tied... except... it really wasn't. Because the emergence of the various Corps didn't mean squat in the end. Only by Nekron ironically revealing the one entity that could defeat him, the White Light, would he be defeated. W. T. F.

I'm... I'm just angry. 😐

a good deal of those questions were actually answered, and iirc, Hal's dad being raised was never said to happen.

Agree with ODG. They could have easily pulled this whole event off using only green, yellow, black, and white. Because in the end every other color/emotion was utterly superfluous, and ultimately confusing.

I can't wait for the trades of this. I've heard so many good things.
