So the clones attack from 10 k out, Dumbles and the other wizards who can half apparate can fly around and target the ground the clones are on, or target the DC-15's, portus them, and bye bye clones. The clones could attack from half a world away, still wouldnt make a difference.

as soon as the wizards apparate within 500 feet they get killed instantly. QED.

and to turn something into a port key you have to have line-of-site of it. humans can only see a couple of miles. as soon as theyre in range to target a gun theyll be shot.

according to the thread starter the clones have attacked the school. theyre not on their way to attack the school. that means theyre already there. the wizards dont have prep so no they dont know the clones are attacking them until the clones open fire on them.

They can apparate into range, portus an object, or even a large mass of ground, and be gone before the clones target them. No way the clones will see the wizards when they apparate, target them, and fire before the wizard is gone. That would take, well, Jedi reflexes.

Thats all the Hogwarts know. Thats all they'll need to know before being slaughtered.

Also, Hogwarts, presumably isnt just a big box like warehouse.
No wizard will have line of sight with all troopers.
Advantage troopers.

All they will know is that the place is swarming with Troopers all around and that people are being blasted to charred oblivion all around.

Okay, so I stopped reading about midway into page 9, so if someone else has come up with something, I apologize for stomping on your toes.

RJ, you want a scenario to counter the portkeys? Okay, here's a scenario:

Anakin and the 501st reach the treeline to the Forbidden Forest. Ani sends a few troops ahead to scout. The troopers move forward, leaning against the trees for cover. The minute they do, they disappear.

Anakin: "...Raze the forest."

Now tell me, if 501st just turn every possible portkey item into ash, what good will it do as a defense?

Okay a couple things.

1. Yes the clones adnd Vader know where Hogwarts is. I know very much about the concealing spells. That and the whole anti-tech field Hermione mentions in Book 4 are not in play here. They aren't in play at all in the films anyway IIRC.

2. No magical creatures. I purposefully left things like Dementors and Giants out of this because they're kinda wanky.

3. Appirition must have a limit. Otherwise it's a no limits falllacy. Plus, just for fun, in Book 7 Voldemort has to fly to get to a spot so he's close enough to appirate back to Malfoy Manor.

Finally, being a fan of Harry Potter is just fine. Even if the films do suck balls, the books ar egood.
