STAR WARS: RETROSPECTION- Liberator

Wentar leaps into action! The concealment of his presence gives him the advantage of surprise as he leaps down from a walkway and sweeps his lightsaber through one of the lesser assassins. It gives a shout of surprise but is cut short as your lightsaber splits him cleanly, ignoring his armor.

The Assassin and his lesser assassins snap up their blaster rifles in your direction- the patented bullpup configuration, scopes and flash dampeners and all- but hold their fire.

"I am disappointed, Jedi," the Assassin says, keeping his blaster trained on you. "I offered you a chance to walk away last time, and you repay my kindness by murdering one of my men."

"Only to stop you from murdering anyone else," Wentar retorts, holding his lightsaber in attack position. "You didn't show those men down stairs any mercy, tell me why I should treat you any differently."

Reflection, Block and Focused Guard as my shticks for when the fighting starts.

"Fair enough," the Assassin says- you can hear the smirk in his voice. "Then I will once more extend my offer. Tell me where our friend Senator Garys Farl is and you may walk away with your life."

"It doesn't work that way," Wentar replies, attempting to stay diplomatic. "It would make me a pretty lousy bodyguard if I just lead a bunch of assassins to the man I was assigned to protect. It would be much better if your boss just cut his losses and put a stop to this whole mess."

"You would give your life to protect this deceitful man?" the Assassin asks. "You do not even truly know him. Not as my employer does."

"I would give my life to prevent a man from being killed in cold blood," Wentar replies. "I am curious about what kind of person you think he is. Why do you want this man dead?"

"You really don't know?" the Assassin says. "Fine, then I will tell you. The Senator used to work for the Kylugo Srum... now he works for Tyr-sen. Both operate slavery rings. Figure out the rest yourself."

Wentar freezes at the Assasins statement, completely at a loss of what to think now. "Do you have any proof to support this accusation?"

The Assassin gestures to the Tower around you.

"Is this not evidence enough? Do you think a SENATOR could afford this? This Tower is a city within itself. Not even the Grand Vizier of Triskatan lives in a place so extravagant as this. If you dug around in the Senator's funds you would no doubt see transactions with anonymous bank accounts and all sorts of illicit activities..."

Thinking back Wentar can see that thinks start to make sense. The Senators unwillingness to investigate his attackers, his obsession with the Kylugo Srum, Emso's information about Farl misleading the Commission, even Farl's insistence that Wentar senselessly kill his attackers instead of question them.

But now Wentar has a dilemma, as a Jedi he can't just hand over a Senator to people who want him dead, as a person Wentar wont willingly hand over someone if he knows they'll be murdered regardless of what they've done, but morally, if they're telling the truth, Farl can't just be 'let go'.

"Lets say I believe you..." Wentar starts cautiously. "What would you do to him? Just simply kill him off?"

"Yup," the Assassin says. "Without him pushing the Commission to hunt the Srum, they won't chase them. Did I mention that he is also selling his people?"

Oh, now that hits Wentar hard. Hard enough that he actually steps backwards.

Blowing a force point on Scan here, just to cover all the bases.

"I- I can't let you kill him," Wentar says hesitantly. "It would be against everything I stand for... How would he be selling his people? Triskatan is too close to the core for people not to notice anything."

The Assassin is telling the truth about Farl. You sense the apparent in that he wants you to forfeit and go... but he is nervous that you will stay.

"It can be done," the Assassin says. "Check up on missing person reports for Triskatan, you will find a handful of unusual files that law enforcement has not touched for investigation. Do you see the homeless or the impoverished often on Triskatan? I don't. That's because they're not here."

Wentar shakes his head, the assassins words sounding too eerily familiar for him to be comfortable with, Ryho all over again.

"You know I can't just walk away," Wentar says quietly, his eyes flickering up to Farl's hiding place. "There must be a way we can solve this without bloodshed."

"I'm afraid not," the Assassin says. "I've given you what you need to reveal Farl post-humously. Either shut off your weapon and go now or be destroyed."

Wentar lets out a long sigh, bowing his head and closes his eyes, hating himself for what he is about to do.

"I'm sorry," he says softly, looking up, struggling to remain composed. "But I cannot allow you to kill this man."

He twirls his lightsaber once and prepares himself for the upcoming fight.

Reflection, Focused Guard and Block.

"So be it, Jedi," the Assassin says, and the blasters are lifted again...
