FIREFLY RPG - Episode 0 - Prologue

A gun has a certain amount of points that represent ammo; each point spent is a shot taken. When the gun runs out of points, you must reload, which either takes your action or is covered by Lightning Reload. But you're correct, you don't quite have enough for an all-out attack on the four head goons. Your action actually works quite well because your shotgun will be empty at the start of the next turn, meaning you will Lightning Reload it and keep shooting.

Toki will continue to guard Marina but he'll aim at one of the supermooks to help the CQC guys out.

Just a thought for Gabriel, but maybe your two attacks should just go into one Supermook to hit him harder and faster.

And Toki, I think you and I should be shooting at the mooks, along with Alan. They need to not exist because the more of them there are, the more damage we take. And damage sucks!

Yea, clear out the mooks first, as you all with COC can take them all down fast. (Wow... I just realized I'm playing my first character without COC... I feel like I've abandoned an old friend...)
I'll keep on the Supers as I can hit them harder. "A" should be dead next round, then I'm gonna pump everything I can muster into B, then go toe-to-toe with C, while you all can take on D and help out with the other ones.

I'll give the others some time to see what they think about Marina's and Shaftoe's advice.

Toki will follow her advice and aim for the closest mook.

(Wow... I just realized I'm playing my first character without COC... I feel like I've abandoned an old friend...)

😂

And yes, guys, their advice is very sound. Drop the mooks first. They're easier to get rid of, but their numbers make them dangerous.

Pressing on, then.

Bad guys get initiative. It's two mook attacks on everyone but Marina and Toki, and then everyone but Toki gets heat from the Supermooks- Alan having made himself more prominent.

One of Gabe's shooters rolls all 1s, meaning Gabe gets three points of protection from the defensive bonus of CoC, which his other shooter blows away before Supermook C hits him for 5 damage.

Alan takes a hit for 4 from a goon then another 4 from Supermook B, who is rather displeased with Alan shooting at him.

Shaftoe takes a hit for 4 from one of his shooters, but Supermook A triggers the defensive bonus of Gunslinger that lets Shaftoe shoot before A does.

Marina and Toki are missed completely.

Gabriel starts things off by giving C and D a taste of buckshot. With sixteen dice, he rolls eight successes against C. He gets his bonus for CQC but for no added effect. But tapping EE means that Gabriel's successes are doubled in damage, and C takes 19 damage in a stellar shot! Sadly, EE only works for the first attack, so six successes on D is only 9 damage to him. Either way, Gabriel is a force to be reckoned with...

Alan comfortably blasts down a goon with his own shotgun.

Marina (whose double successes I am counting, no worries) scores a killing shot with four successes, then taps LR in order go again. In her second attack, she downs another with a precise shot and gains the ammo back via LR's bonus.

Toki takes down a target too; all of his shots are debilitating ones, however, so no deaths are being caused by his shots.

Shaftoe moves up and, with a shot to the face, makes sure that Supermook A has snuffed it.

I actually didn't know that we could target one mook with more than one attack with CoC. But reading over the rules again that makes sense. Which I will use this time around.

I'd like to get in close combat with as many of the supermooks as possible and then tap CoC and Lighting Reload to hit Hijacker C 3 times and Hijacker D once.

Tapping CoC AND LR would get you five attacks, actually.

Oh sweet. Then 3 on C two on D.

So I'm not gonna **** around with B.
I'm tapping everything. Gunslinger, Marksman and Straight Shooter.
Then I'm putting my gun away and drawing my Katana.

Shaftoe doesn't budge with the bullets flying around him. He levels his revolver at the first Hijacker and ends him. (A) The bullet cracks him between the eyes and he goes down with a muffled fwump. He then turns and levels his large revolver at the next hijacker in line, and if you look closely, you might see him crack what might be mistaken for a smile, as he pulls the trigger.

Toki will guard Marina while shooting the closest Mook to her.

Alan will tap Lightning Reload, this round, attacking two mooks (Or, if I don't kill the first, the same mook twice.) Swap it for Dodge and Weave.

Marina keeps picking off mooks with her revolver.

"Keep it coming!" Marina shouts to her crewmates.

6 to 1, initiatve is yours!

First off, Gabriel goes batshit with his now fully-loaded shotgun. Pumping out shell after shell, he first goes for Hijacker C. First attack gets offensive bonuses- Gabriel regains a point of ammo and rolls extra dice, for 9 damage. Second attack- Gabriel brutally blasts C out of the fight! Third attack- now going to D, Gabriel hits for 8 damage. Fourth attack- another 7 damage. That's Carnival spent, and Gabriel finishes off his turn with a free attack from Reload- and in turn finishes off D! An impressive display.

Alan fluffs his first shot but then blasts down his target with his shotgun and LR tap.

Shaftoe decides to be mighty unfriendly. The Marksman tap brings his dice pool up to seventeen dice- two 1s, three 5s, and four 6s means bonuses. StS triples the first success and Marksman gives Shaftoe two more dice that gets him one last success. StS means that B gets the full base damage in addition to twelve successes- 14 damage total as Shaftoe calmly puts a bullet in the hijacker's shoulder.

Marina and Toki gang up on a mook and debilitate it.

Return fire is very light- a hit for 4 on Gabriel, a hit for 3 on Alan, and a hit for 4 on Shaftoe.

Refresh turn as a Joker is drawn! You can refresh two unloaded Schticks this turn. However, not many remembered to swap...

Wanting to finish things quickly, Marina steps out of cover for dramatic effect and puts one well-placed bullet into the throat of B.

Tapping Marksman and Eagle Eye for this.

Gabriel will blast one more of the mooks. Swapping in Eagle Eye.

I'll refresh Eagle Eye.
But I'm putting away my revolver and drawing my Katana.
I forget, do I still have to swap out the powers individually? or can I do it all at once, if I'm going from guns to Melee?

Individually.
