I thought it was both, though i'd say it was the mental more than physical part, sure.

i think it also has to be considered that superman would have been fighting eclipso's control, though.

he did, and he did very well; i wouldn't argue that. i honestly believe cap is the closest to superman strength wise. i just believe that when superman gets past those mental blocks, he is stronger.

There were no mental blocks involved when they fused that one time. All Clark and Billy could sense was the total pool of each other's power.

Clark was shocked by what he was sensing, but Billy was not. In all likelihood Clark privately probably thought Billy's total level was only what he had shown and no more than that. Billy on the other hand was not shocked at all, probably because he had already estimated before hand how much Superman holds back on average and figured it was about the same as he does personally.

What happened in the end of that book? Superman stresses to Cap how much he sees themselves as equals in every way.

Put Cap in a sudden fight against a Maxwell Lord controlled Superman that sees him as Darkseid, and Cap loses more often than not. But unlike Diana, Cap will still be able to physically grapple with Supes, he'd just lose partly due to the mentality(caught off guard, not having on-the-fly adaptability, or warrior's ferocity) and possibly skill level.

Give him time to mentally prepare, even channel more of Zeus' energy as he's shown to be able to do, and it goes back to 50/50 again.

Of all the herald levelers out there that I can see Supes defeating in an arm wrestling contest 6/10+, Cap is probably the one exception. The only one.

i was talking about superman's mental blocks.

he says the same about diana and j'onn. 😛

I know, I'm saying when they fused a mental block wouldn't have been a factor. Supes' power level was clear for Cap to feel. (wow that sounded kinda gay)

Meh. He compliments them in a general manner sure, the books never really go out of their way to make sure that either J'onn or Diana could arm wrestle Supes to a stalemate. Cap is made sure to stalemate Supes in all physical stats.

Actually, I got their stats from the newest (think it came out in August) DC Adventures Hero hanbook for the pen and paper rpg. I can post them if you want. They are about as equal as possible in the main stats, while still emphasizing their differences in the substats.

The main stats seem to be out of 20. There is a big difference between a 19 strength and a 20 strength. 20 is supposed to be cosmic level.

Anyway for the thread, in close range Adam will win. If they both fight to their best with no CIS, it should be more or less 50/50.

Well like I said, I don't know what powerlevel is supposed to indicate exactly.

Adam has the same strength as Cap or Superman. But his stamina is a little bit better than Cap's and his fighting ability is above Supes'.

Cap has a one point higher toughness rating than Adam or Clark though.

Strength, stamina, and fighting ability are probably all that matter in a fight. It looks like Superman and Cap only really suffer for stamina and fighting ability. Strength is dead even.

Wouldn't really trust the stats anyways, since they likely don't determin stats the way we do on the boards.
