Some people don't feel the need to prove that they are cognitively gifted. Others feel the need to prove how "retarded" others are, relative to themselves, though. RJ doesn't have a massive amount of knowledge under his belt, but he definitely is above average in intelligence, easily.

Above and beyond the essentials "food, water, air, clothing, shelter", are several other categories which can all be, in one form or another, classified as entertainment. That isn't what he did here. He outrageously gimped the characters to make an impossible, unworkable fight happen, and it didn't happen because nobody agreed with it, because it's stupid.
