First movie sucked fragrant skunk balls.

All forgiven if this one rocks.. which it may do.

There's a new tv spot out, which shows the bullet train fight in much greater detail. Here you go! http://youtu.be/5OKT5YceMCQ

Yeah, the first one did stink.

Tonights Midnight Premiere isn't even 30% sold out at my theater. Not a good sign...

Most likely people are still hesitant with what was given with Wolverine Origins.

Those trailers aren't that convincing either. You don't even know who's his true enemy. There's the old guy, ninjas, mobsters, Viper, some silver Samurai, Samurai robot, etc. They should have made Silver Samurai more prominent in the movie/trailers.

Right now it's better reviewed than Man of Steel and Iron Man 3, I've got my tickets for tonight but my expectations pretty low. I just don't see FOX doing the source material justice. Wolverine vs Shingen is my favourite comic fight of all time. The build up. Wolverine asking Shingen if he is worthy now, Shingen responding "That gaijin, remains to be seen." The fight itself. The aftermath when Mariko comes into see Wolverine standing over her fathers corpse and her speech. It's all amazing. I'd have a full sleeve tattoo of it if right now if I could figure out how to get all the parts I want on one arm. Instead of that perfect climax for some mind boggling reason it looks like Wolverine will fight a dude in a robot samurai suit... and Viper is a lizard lady or something *groan*

The ticket sales will go up on the weekend.

For me it was a good movie. Much better than that Origins garbage, or X3 for that matter. But it's the end credit scene that really got me hyped!

I'm going to see it tonight. My expectations for this movie have been on a wild rollercoaster ride; when I first heard it was being developed, I expected a horrible film on a level with X-Men Origins. Then I saw an interview with Jackman and Mangold that really impressed me, and the first trailers revealed tantalizing glimpses that led me to hesitantly start to believe that it might be my favorite comic book film ever.

At that point I started devouring any news I could get on this film, and I realized that there were certain aspects

Spoiler:
(such as Harada apparently not being the Silver Samurai)
that would not be the faithful translation from comic to film that I was hoping for. Then I became worried that it would be a slightly better than X-3/Origins level disappointment, and then, the first reviews came out.

Right now I'm confident that while it probably won't be my number 1, I'll still be able to enjoy a great film. I guess I'll find out tonight at midnight, I'll be going in, fingers crossed that this delivers the Wolverine I've sat through four (not including FC) films waiting to see!

I Agree

for the first film i'd blame either David Benioff or Skip Woods for how they treated the Weapon X story.

Starts awesome. The first 2/3 is a great neo noir character study. The last 3rd of the movie degenerates into nonsensical campy schlock that is insulting to the source material and the first 2/3rds of the movie that came before it.

Ok. Nothing great and nothing terrible but that is about it.

With that Wolverine Origins movie, they should've done that as a trilogy rather then try and cram everything into one movie

First movie- Based on 'Wolverine Origin'
Second Movie- Have him join Alpha flight
Third movie- Weapon X

Wow! Finally, we have an on-screen Wolverine that does justice to the character! I loved the humor, the attitude, his fighting skills, his inner struggles, his determination. I admit that the final third did not have the great fight I was looking forward to, but there were still strong parts to it.

Spoiler:
For one thing, I thought it was clear from the beginning that eldest Yashida was not simply "not ready to die," he was a coward, so his story arc made sense. I also liked how they played with how he saw Mariko as most did in the comics, as a porcelain doll from whom he could retrieve his company at any time.

Of course, as Wolverine knew in the comics, her soft exterior belied an incredibly strong will, but whereas I was convinced she would have been slain effortlessly by Shingen in the miniseries had she attempted to kill him, the movie made it believable when she actually defeated her grandfather.

Am I disappointed in the claws being cut off, and the lack of Harada's powers and actual background? Yes I am, but I thought what they did with Harada worked well for the movie, and have come to accept that in this Fox incarnation at least, Adamantium is not truly indestructible.

Was this a perfect movie? No, I didn't think so. Nonetheless, it is still my favorite movie to come out of the X franchise yet, and the negatives that exist can't destroy the fun I had watching it. A great 9 out of 10 from me!

With a budget of only $120mill it's obviously going to make a large profit margin. Tripling it's budget will be pretty easy. Being a quality it should do beyond that even.

Regarding the changes to Viper, I can understand them changing her what with Marvel already using Hydra.

Especially to the source material. In movieverse nuclear energy causes mutations. Yashida Sr. was a nuclear event survivor. Yet we see neither mutant Silver Samurai (ninja Hawkeye and giant robot? WTF) nor Sunfire.
I was expecting that a fencing scene and demonstrative hatred of mutants by Mariko's father will lead to him secretly being Silver Samurai if a canon Harada is a Hawkeye-type guy here... but all of this leads to nowhere.
But then...there's still hope for at least Sunfire. Somebody of Yashida's descendants just HAS to be revealed as a mutant. Nagasaki background = perfect for this.

But at least this was better that godawful Origins. I went to the movie without reading spoilers but at least expected "true-to-sourse material" mutants of Yashida family, especially given the background of its head in the movie.
I expected something good after wonderful X-Men First Class, but then there was Origins that was downright horrible movie.
