Wolverine 2 movie

I've forgotten about this movie.

It's strange that there's so little excitement for this movie, it looks pretty awesome so far. Here's the Japanese trailer, with our first glimpse of armored up Silver Samurai: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3YSOR63MuI

Some new photos, including one of Wolverine vs Shingen Yashida: http://www.flickeringmyth.com/2013/05/four-behind-scenes-images-from-wolverine.html

There's still a few months to go, and the anticipation is killing me! Am I the only one?

I think it looks stupid and I'm about as big a Wolverine fan as you can get. /shrug

If FOX was smart (which it is well documented that they are not), they would put the X-Men in their comic costumes. I can not for the life of me understand Post Avengers why they are still trying to go with this vision. Hell, they don't even need a reboot. The ground work for this sort of change was already done in the comics post Morrison's New X-Men run. Make a passive reference to the Avengers and ape Whedon's line from Astonishing X-Men. Cyclops says "After New York. the world has changed. We can't run around in black leather anymore. It's not enough. We need to Astonish them." Boom. Open with them putting on their uniforms. Destroy the box office.

I'm sorry to hear that, and simply must disagree. I'm excited that they have all of the essential characters from the Clairemont/Miller story, and that they're going to be focusing so heavily on his rage; I think it'll be a great adaptation.

Of course I want them in costume, and I think you're right that it'd be easy to pull off, but it's certainly not going to kill my enjoyment of this film.

Well I've hated all the Wolverine movies (except X2). The costumes were not my main problem with those movies Lol.

But I have to admit this one looks pretty good. I'm looking forward to it.

I can not for the life of me figure out why some fans can't understand that comic book logic isn't movie logic. That the reality of a multi-coloured page is different from a photographed one with actors; it's a closer approximation of the real world. Unless you make something as extreme as Sin City or 300 (which is a creation of a different, stylized reality) you put all the X-Men in their most literal comic costumes and it would look stupid. Even Chris Claremont thinks so; Wolverine in yellow spandex would look ridiculous. And he's spent half of his adventures without a mask as well; doesn't even really have a secret identity.

The first movie played pretty safe with costumes, but it was trying something very new - playing out the superhero concept in the real world as much as possible. Which wasn't what we saw in the Batman films or even the Superman films really, to that point. I know people who just got introduced to the X-Men with the first movie, and they marveled how 'it's like a brand new genre' - plus the fact the heroes were societal outcasts and victims of prejudice. Christopher Nolan would take this real world formula and improve on it further in his Batman films.

Maybe it isn't possible for the X-Men films to be the biggest of all superhero sagas like they are in comics, simply because a lot of the villainy comes from the regular world around them - us. That's an uncomfortable truth for some of the mass audience, possibly. Anyway, they have been refitting the uniforms subtly since the first film, but they aren't ever going to go all the way, unless it's a version set in India. They go for the ultra garish there!

Some heroes have a look that just translates better to live action than others.

If Marvel had the rights they would definitely make X-Men one of the biggest(if not the biggest) superhero saga on the big screen.

They made Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America look good with costumes similar to the comics. I think they should try harder and make things more true to the comics.

This is a good look for Logan and would work. The mask should be worn for missions seeing as they can't just be exposing their faces to cameras and the public.

The problem with Fox's X-Men is that they don't go big enough. The public's figure of mutants isn't well portrayed. Marvel would have tried and worked actual sentinels if they were working on this property. You might not get building size sentinels but you'll get sentinels similar to the Frost Giants in Thor.

I saw the trailer in front of IM 3 and it looks better on the big screen. I think it will be decent enough.

I'm interested in what they have planned for the Silver Samurai.

I was thinking while watching the new Star Trek that they seem to get away with bright yellow, blue and red costumes.

Now I'm personally not too bothered about costumes but perhaps it just shows Fox lacks the balls to stick to the source material. Which is why we get disasters like Juggernaut just being a big stupid lackey mutant.

I predict this movie will do at least 1.5 B WW.

Like I said...some characters have a look that translates easier than others. Even a costume as potentially garish as Captain America's gets a realistic treatment, thanks to great story evolution. The influence of the Ultimate universe is also present, in finding that look. Ultimate Wolverine doesn't wear a yellow spandex outfit and doesn't use a mask...and why would he? He has no secret identity and doesn't care who comes to find him. That's the same rule that's governed his live action appearances. If you don't have a secret identity then there's no point to a costume with a mask. And look at how few X-Men characters use masks, by the way. What's Wolverine trying to accomplish, while beside him characters like Emma Frost, Kitty Pryde, Beast and Colossus go without a mask (and their identities are publicly known as well?) You have to throw comic book logic out the window to do movies properly. Otherwise you are shoving all these illogical looking characters in just to make money on toys, and what you get is Batman And Robin. 😘

If it has been Christopher (Bat-God) Nolan who did the films, he would have gone for the same real world approach as well.

Of course he's serious. No one can stop Wolverine. He will take down the Avengers by himself.

If I'm wrong, I'll leave this board forever. But Wolverine + Silver Samurai= Box office success. 225 OW here we come.

Wolverine has always treated the suit and mask as a uniform; it's what he wears to go to work. I would prefer he wore the brown and gold to the blue and yellow, cause it'd look pretty badass.

Kitty Pryde has a codename, and used to wear a mask, Colossus turns to steel, and doesn't go by his real name either, Beast has the legitimacy of the Avengers and Frost had the Hellfire club to hide behind. The X-Men should absolutely be in costume, but like I said before, it's not going to ruin my enjoyment of this movie.

I hope all Marvel movies that aren't currently under Marvel Studios' control flop horribly. Quite frankly, F*** the studios that are just remaking crap movies so they can hold onto the rights. Frankly, I'm still pissed off that there will be no Doom in the cinematic Marvel universe 🙁
