Marvel loves to make heroes do that. Why? Because that looks cool. Cap used to leap at his enemies like that, too. And his shield wasn't even in position to block any possible attacks.

I exaggerated, but he indeed got cheap shot by Rock of the Buddha when he was trying to reason with them. And that fight happened right after he was done with a little army.

That happens to the best.

Well, he fought more than 60 skilled MAs. I'd assume that each one of them could take on at least 10 ordinary people. So...
