Wolverine vs Thor (Yes Marvel is doing it.)

Started by Kris Blaze23 pages

What I find annoying, is that Thor and Hercules probably have around 200 thousand years of fighting experience on Wolverine and practically ANY Marvel martial artist. Thor was the most skilled asgardian when he was a child for crying out loud.

I believe so. I begrudgingly accept his point for someone like Hulk, Wolverine would be a big issue. He's fast, he has magic blades on his hands that cut through just about anything, he has the stat bonuses that come from knowing comic book martial arts, and he heals from everything. It's a really effective powerset for people like that.

Wolverine's claws aren't magical.

Was it not worded sarcastically enough?

Yeah... I can understand the need to keep things interesting but I'd much rather appreciate some kind of stupid plot device to even things out.

No, cause you kind of have a point.

Theses people do these things because its stupid comic book logic. But its hard to argue against sine it happens all the time.

And it's like, they don't even try to explain it.

It does. Things like blades cutting through anything I don't have problems with so much. With lightsabers it's justified but usually it's just to be cool. Whatever. If the object is thicker than the blade's length it gets sticky but it's not that big of a deal for me but I do reserve the right to call them magical weapons, not because they're enchanted but because they don't make sense.

Maybe if Thor asks nicely, Wolverine will teach him a move or two.

yep. 🙁

it WOULD be nice to see someone like thor or herc USE their skills (mortal herc DID almost take out hulk once with straight h2h skills). i guess i've always tried to "reason out the comicbook logic" (how's that for a long oxymoron) by saying thor and herc are so powerful they never really NEEDED the type of martial arts that many of the 'lesser' powers have been forced to master. may not be much, but it makes SOME sense to me. 😬

one thing i'd REALLY like though, would be more of an emphasis on thor's speed. he's had some good feats, just not nearly as consistent or evident in battle as they SHOULD be.

I suppose next they will do Punisher vs Galactus......

Well c'mon now, Wolverine's not THAT far above Thor.

I think they do that because the writers dont want to definitely put him in a single category. They do the same with the hulk. They want both characters to be between levels, that way they can sell on both sides of the fence. With Characters like SS they are constricted to just being in the cosmic books or they risk making another dr. strange (whose history is so convoluted with ups and downs in power) where nothing he does carries much weight. That way thor and the hulk can go back an forth between battling the likes of gladiator, juggernaut, and heralds, then they appear in an x-men book the next week.

Not saying I like it that way though.

I agree and I think the styles they have master are ones that are outdated, they have have not kept up with the constant evolution of MA, becuase frankly they dont need to.

Clarify out of date?

Do you mean to say, that just because their fighting styles originated thousands of years ago, they wouldn't be as effective and effective against say modern fighting styles?

That's just faulty logic.

Differ between fighting perfected over thousands and thousands of years and an ancient style. And if Iron Fist taught us anything, it's how strong old techniques can be. I mean, that's how he got the majority of his powerup, by studying the old Iron Fists that came before him.

Well, yeah, if you just invented boxing last weekend when you got drunk with your friends or your battle takes place on the second anniversary of the creation of gunpowder you're not going to have much experience in those things.

But say, imagine where MMA will be in a thousand years. Do you think if someone practiced MMA for that time then stopped for a hundred years or so that they would fall behind? Aside from some ring rust, I don't think it'd be a problem at all.

yes, they would becuase new developments would arises. Not to say they would not be skilled, but just becuase there extremely old does not mean they as skill as other much younger individuals with updated MA training.

also vikings MA styles I would think are not has good or technical as many asian ones by quite a bit.
