No, Fire, I wes ADDRESSING you as Zeratul, I was TALKING about the Orc! That is an incomplete quote, there was half a sentence and a comma before the 'Zeratul'.
Palanfirith, that would mean wading into the melee...
... but the melee seems to be breaking up anyway! The Orcs are pulling back and out, throuhg the gates and back towards the cover of their javelin throwers. The large orc snarls loudly towards all of you, but happily, having achieved his mayhem for today. His bodyguards pull back more slowly, covering his escape.
Most of the orc spearmen are dead.
There is at first a panic at the sight of the other approaching figure- but you can see it is anither Elf, Vardalain. Shorter, though- a Silvan. Her kind have never seen the light of the west.
Kumar is dead, there was no chance to save him. Only a handful of people are left defending this place. Grum is alive, having killed two orcs in the fight. Many men are wounded- but no civlians were hurt.
Vardalain, your left arm needs treatment, that will take a few days to heal up. Thw wounds to people like Tarin will pain them but not disadvantage them, once patched up. Palanfirith has the biggest irritation. Even with your best treatment and his Elvish constitution, he will be barely able to walk for a day and will have a bad limp for at least a week. The wound may take a month to fully heal. Being an Elf, it wil heal completely and without long-term effect.
All this, though, assumes you have the herbs you need to treat everyone, which you do not. Some people will have to go out and look for it. Gosh, if only you had a few outdoor tracking types in the group...
I say:"Vardalain, go find some rangers or scouts to go and get the herbs, Palanfirith can you have a talk with aniica, and maybe she can help you and the rest of our wounded. Master Dwarf can you go and inspect the camp if possible, the rest of you go and see where you can be of use"
I go and see wether or not the gate is fixable
Nope, though it would make good firewood.
"Damn them," says Grum, walking to your side. "WHY did they come? Why waste their time with us?"
Vardalain could certainly do with some stuff. Too many orcs poison their weapons.
As Mah seems to be away, he can go out looking for the stuff you need, the rest of you can check out any other leads that you like.
