LOTR RP Game part 1- Journey to Fornost

"i say we cut the hills closer to fornost. It's not only more likely to find the princess this way, it's safer also."

"Agreed"

Right, I will give you three choices. Refer to the map.

Assume you go through the MIDDLE of the Weather Hills. Once on the other side, do you:

1. Head west/southwest, and hit the road roughly level with the 'w' of wood.

2. Head west and hit the road at the bend in the middle

3. Head west/northwest and hit the road midway between the bend and Fornost?

(I don't care)
whatever aranui decides to do is fine by me

3

I'll stand by my earlier suggestions, which was west-northwest, option #3.

Ok- that will take the longest.

All that is needed, then, is to sort out a travelling plan again.

The rangers can deal with that

(ok.. had some connection problems but i'm k now, Ush , can I meet up with them in the hills ? )

Better you meet with them right here, actually, as the Camp is a reasonable place for any traveller on this road to stop at.

If you plan on staying, why not introduce yourself?

.........

*whistles and waits (im)patiently* ^_~

Well, look, I am not just going to set you guys off unless you come up with some travelling plan. You are already endangering the whole mission by deliberately taking the route that will take the longest so you had better have a ascheme of fast travelling ready!

"we'll travell faster without horses on the hills. Also, we could try to sleep once at two nights to make up for the time" says Vardalain

Noticing the group debating, Andorial makes his approach, saying :
"Hello, fellow travelers, I have heard of your intentions and seek to help you in thy quest. I am a mage that travels the world looking for adventure, and would highly appreciate joining your group. I believe I might be of assistence, as I possess an ancient book with a great deal of information about Middle Earth, which may contain information about a shortcut towards our destination. I would gladly allow Palanfirith, our ranger, to study this and plan a course. "

"Aranui we must hurry we can not waste any more time!"

you've got a book with information about shortcuts for this very journey? I sincerely doubt it.

"Yes, Zeratul. We'll have to travel fast and sleep little before we reach our target."

(ush, the journey isnt any longer if we go northwest is it? with regards to the princess; since she moves northwards by that pre-set route we're of no better chances getting to her faster going more directly, or south. we'll get faster to the route, sure, but also need to get there faster to catch up with the moving party. when going northwest they'll obviously use more time too getting there)

Actually I do have a book with info on the whole of M.E. but I only specified history, so I wonder if this'll work, since it sounds more like geography... maybe historical geography ?!? 🙂

Well you simply cannot escape the logic that you are choosing the destination that is furthest from where you are now. No matter what, it would take you longer to reach it.

Heading to that point on the road greatly reduces the chance that you will miss her- your main nightmare is that when you get to the road she is already ahead of you. But it's not impossible that she will already have been attacked by the time you reach it though- that's damn close to Fornost for any raid.

It's all swings and roundabouts; this way works fine (because you can head south once on the road) IF you are quick about it!

Nice try, Rusky, but I am afraid your ancient book would tell you more of how this area looked during the First Age in the days of the Elven Kingdom beyond Ered Luin... in which case this whole area is labelled "Warning: Here be Evil"

Oh, Palanfirith, your leg is fine. Well, not FINE, but you can take the pain. Be a true Noldor!

Ok, guys, we are talking start of The Two Towers style running here. Over HILLS. Ok, so that's impossible, but this is going to SORELY test you.

So, dump anything you don't need. If people want to travel with more than provisions and weapons, please say and I will bear it in mind. Anything else you will have to re-equip with at Fornost.

THis journey will take about three weeks. Work out who is keeping watch when, and who does the scouting.

well obviously the rangers should go/run infront and choose the smartest and fastest way. and elves should do scouting
