"Zeratul is right...sort of. We don't have all the time in Middle-earth to convince you to take a different route or turn back, Farael. But we are trying to protect the princess at all costs, even if it means fighting here on the road with approaching forces, though we have seen none."
"But we are trying to protect the royal family of Arnor as well as reach Fornost-Edain. Ever since we have discovered about the Princess' hunting party we have been attacked by large groups of Dunlendings and a flock of Crebain. I assure you that this is no false alarm and that there is a danger. I have been defending the lands of Gondor for quite awhile, and I am sure you and I both know that Orc raids are nothing to joke about."
"Thankyou," says Farael, relieved to get some straight info.
"What do you think?" he asks his men.
"It's nonsense, isn't it?" says Steibar. "Any Orc raiding party inside our borders is spending its time trying to avoid our patrols, not kill itself in a pointless kidnap. There isn't any force large enough to hit us and even if there WAS they would have to scout us out first or they would go right past us. We know they can't be on the road, the road is secure. And there have been NO scouts near us. These people have been the only strangers to come within a league of us in the last week."
"You don't quite get it Steibar. If the Witch-king of Angmar is behind this, he'll muster a force of Orcs just for this raid, and Orcs allied with Dunlendings are quite strong in battle. The Orcs and Dunlendings we fought didn't seem quite smart enough to know exactly where this Gondorian courrier would be, but they found him! How else would you explain this?" Talin says.
"If the Gondorian Courier was caught that says rather more about GONDORIAN security than ours," says Steibar. "And the Witch King can assemble any force he likes. GETTING it here is a different matter. And as for suspicious people in our column... I can tell you that right now I feel surrounded by them."
"It IS rather breathtaking for you to turn up out of nowhere and accuse members of the Princess' convoy of being spies," says Farael. "These men are assigned by the King himself. In any case, this all strikes me as wildly academic as there is going to be nothing achieved by sitting here arguing about it. We are moving onto Fornost; you may come if you wish."
Palanfirith goes to Aranui and tries to have a word with him.
"as long as this idiot doesn't trust us,our place in the caravan is pointless. We should go in front of the party,as a scouting group and try to spot the attackers. This is the only way that they would belive us and we protect the princess." sais Palanfirith.
"That's NOT necessary," says Steibar. "I scout for thois column and I can do that a whole lot better if the route ahead isn't full of strangers distracting my men."
"Hmm," says Farael. "A word, Steibar." He takes the knight off inside the closest caravan. When the two of them leave again, Steibar seems to be smiling, and gets onto his horse and rides away.
"Your retinue may do as it wishes near the column," says Farael to you, Aranui. "Satying near us will keep the Crebain off you, at least."
