Yep! Don't know when the next beta event is going to be, so no idea how long it'll take for them to let people know they've been chosen.
Probably a good idea to check out the FAQ on it though:
http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/#fifteen
Particularly the part about the fact that they'll be holding people to a very strict NDA. Can't even say you're a part of it if you're chosen. And you can bet we'll enforce that here too.
w00t
I wouldn't say the numbers will count you out, though. We still don't know how they're going to do the beta events after all, and I know they've been saying that they need a wide range of systems for people to test with just to see how the game will run on various computer setups.
Still, I'm not sure anyone was expecting that many people to sign up that quickly.
So, today there was a press release given out, with two bits of info that are of interest.
1) At peak signup time, they had about 4,000 people a minute signing up for the beta. Wow.
2) The next closed beta event (which we all were signing up for) is going to be in late March, and it seems that they particularly want to look at stress loads on the servers.
Now...that's interesting, because stress testing is usually one of the last steps in testing a game. I know the TOR stress tests were within about a month of the game releasing. I'm not saying GW2 will be coming out in the next month, because I'm sure there's some things they need to do stress tests on a bit earlier than the rest to make sure it'll work properly (like WvW), but...still.
So yeah. Yay, stuff!

Attributes and traits, fun stuff.
Hell yes, collector's edition! 😄

Not really any actual game news, but if you're at all interested in the community aspect of the game (which I am, though normally I'm not a social gamer, I've kinda carved myself a place in the GW2 community), it's a pretty neat read.

Summary of a high level sylvari dungeon. I see myself playing through this one frequently.

Some stuff about the personal stories.
Golem fighting is involved if you're an asura, apparently.
Another beta this past weekend, which means another huge amount of info and articles being released right now:

The embargo just dropped a couple of hours ago so more will be added throughout the day.
Also, I've been given a really awesome opportunity, with regards to GW2, so I may have some really cool stuff to post in a few weeks...
