It is a common misconception that atheism is the assertion that there is no God. Atheism is not the assertion that there is no god. Atheism is the lack of belief in a god. The difference is that while Theism professes a belief, atheism does not. Atheism isn't the opposite end of the spectrum. It leaves the spectrum entirely. Atheism simply says that there is no reason to believe in a god.My contention is that there is no evidence suggesting the existence of a god. Ergo, we cannot act as though there is a god.
