Plenty of this already goes on. It's why it's hard to have crossover appearances in live-action movies with comic characters....different production companies own the rights to various characters. It's why the planned Avengers movie that Marvel has been setting up is about the most ambitious thing a comic movie franchise has ever tried to do. The logistics are mind-boggling.
