Disney to buy Marvel Comics for $ 4 Billions

Started by tjcoady18 pages

Pixar, Miramax...

Generally, Disney has the corporate sense to leave well enough alone- how else would "Kill Bill" have been made? We're going to see, probably, Marvel talent being used for children's comics, which is fine by me- I like the idea of kids growing up reading comics. The larger the comics buying audience, the more comics on the market, which means more interesting, less selling titles can survive.

DC is able to put books like "Jonah Hex," which doesn't sell very well, but is consistently excellent, out on the market because of Time Warner. If the Disney deal means we get to see books like, say, "Captain Britain," not fold, then, wonderful.

I doubt much will change with the 616 Marvel U. And movie franchises like "Iron Man" are already locked.

My problem with this is that I just don't care for the idea of like, five, companies owning the entire nations media- even down to comics.

More comics on the market isn't necessarily positive. We'll see Hanna Montana comics, Jonas Brothers, Lizzie whatever (Marvel.com interview practically guaranteed this) and so on. What kind of new worthwhile comics can this bring? Now there's even LESS a chance that JMS will get back to finish Supreme power 🙁

Thank you.

Oh wow, we might see Hannah Montana comics, Jonas Bros comics, High School Musical comics.

Shit.

Because, I'm a music fan too, right? So when I go into a music store and I see all those CDs I DON'T like, I think about how bad things are.

Oh wait, no I don't. I think "There're those CDs I dislike, I'll just ignore those and keep walking to the CDs I do like that aren't affected by those.".

You do it now. Why is it any different with Disney?

They wanna bring out five lines of Disney comic? Great. Now that's five additional series I don't read. As long as the main characters in Marvel who were there first remain untouched, who cares?

Besides, they've EXPLICITLY stated they are doing this because they feel they are seen as too feminine. They want the cash that comes from a male market.

I DONT LIKE THE IDEA OF DISNEY HAVING ANYTHING TO DO WITH MARVEL

you dont like it, agree, or whatever thats cool but i dont remember asking you to bash my opinion. now i can agree to just leave it here
what say you???

This is one of the things wrong with people.

You think you can just say some unbelievable, reactionary nonsense and get away with it because you say it's your opinion.

No, how about that? How about; you're wrong, you're basing this opinion on NOTHING and you're being illogical?

Whirly, serious question:

You're a man with wife and kids, do you not find this incredibly shameful?

what does that mean for the creative/writing process of our favorite Marvel comic books, it's not going to become all "kiddie" is it?

Oh for ****'s sake.

Can people seriously stop this bullshit? It's not that bad, nothing has happened and unless something does, stop acting like someone or something has died.

Christ.

"Darn it all, I just can't figure out how to make successful comic books to capture the boy market... say, that company has exactly what I want. I'm going to buy them and then change them into what I've been trying to create myself and failing to do. And I'll spend four billion to do it!"

Yeah, I don't think that they just spent 4 billion to change it when its exactly what they've been looking for as is.

Disney owns Miramax... I don't think you have to worry about subsidiaries being all kiddified.

Marvel attractions at their theme parks however... that you might need to worry about. 🙄

So you like being wildly illogical- Oh, wait. It's you. So that means the answer to my question is yes.

I will do no such thing, and I'd appreciate it if you kept me out of your wetdreams.

You are an idiot. Then again believing in characters like Thor you would have to be.

Uhh...so what if they do?

They already made four, mega-shit X-Men movies (Except for two, which was fun). Why would that be any worse?

Do you like the comics less because of a shitty movie? No? Then this is of no concern to you either.

Nobody is actually thinking. Everyone's knee-jerking.

Funny how they used fan art and things that already existed for that.

There's a lot of idiots freaking out about this.
