Apocalypse drooping its nuclear bombardment was one set of problems. However to the greater realization known to few. Was that their reality was occupying another’s timeline. Get over it son. The fact is the PF is probably one of the most over-hyped characters in all of comicdom. You know this is true when you have people actually say "The PF is second to the LT" or "The PF is the LT's equal". There are many a character who far outstrip the PF in terms of on panel showings and yet they never get the same consideration.

PF and it's avatars get wanked mostly based on what's said about them rather than what they've actually done.

He does that in any debate where he finds himself ignorant.

Then when the time line was restored things picked up where they left off, ore or less and Gambit wound up in a coma.

There's even a gap where they stopped printing the regular 616 comics until the event was over. Generation X was being turned out at one a month until February 1995. The next Gen X title isn't printed until July 1995.

They even state that the titles ceased to exist for that time:
