Anyway, his gun isn't weak. He was using it on the most heavily armoured Decepticon, and the biggest besides Blackout. He still killed it.

What hand-to-hand combat? He never fought another standing Decepticon. He has never fought anyone on screen in a fist fight, brawl or any other kind of battle close up.

This is false, and it keeps getting repeated in this thread.
Sideswipe spears his blade through Sideways. So at that point, the blade has already impaled Sideways.
Then Sideswipe holds onto the blade and travels in the opposite direction. It is a combination of Sideways going one direction, and Sideswipe going the other that results in Sideswipe being sliced in half.
It didn't do much damage, Sideways was still driving fine.
Says a lot about the alleged power of this man's blades.
