When you said that Clubber Lang would beat Ivan Drago because we could just grant him Ivan Drago's background and training for no good reason, it was a really, really terrible argument. But I failed to effectively demonstrate how ridiculous it sounded because I forgot that Batman doesn't even take steroids.

I think the general idea is that quanchi has no intention of going through with what is sure to be a humiliating experience. This way, he gets to thump his chest for two months about accepting a battlezone, and then that's followed by a month or so of shutting up about it, and then if all goes to plan, everyone will forget about it and he won't have to suffer an inevitable crushing defeat.
