This chapter mademe want to puke. Hiro should take notes from Akamatsu to see how a really tournament fight should go.
Spoiler:
Here I was epecting Sting and Rouge to push Natsu and Gajeel to the limit and instead we get this stupid stomp. And it wasn' even an entertaining one at that. nly a few days earlier Natsu and Gajeel were intimidated by these two and now they can stomp them with almost no problem? Even with training and magic amp, which Gajeel didn't even have, they shouldn't have been able to do this. I hope Dragonforce puts a stop to it.
Match isn't over yet 🙂
Personally I'd say part of the difference so far is one of will. The Saberteeth are fighting just to surpass people, while the Fairy Tail's have Lucy in their mind so started out much stronger than they normally do.

Spoiler:
Gajeel did have more training than Natsu instead, which was probably pretty intense stuff. And yea, dragon force should help tip things
Am I the only one who thinks that the fight kinda made sense?
All we know about Sting and the other dude was that they were dragon slayers and that they had lacryma or whatever its spelled infused into them. For all we know, they could just be weakass Wendy level slayers and just got powered up.
The magic amp and dragon force thing showed that they could amp, and is probably the reason why they're badass. but base stat wise, they could be chumps.
Remember that before the 7 year of nothing, Natsu and Gajeel were badass. Now, 7 years later, we have these two posers who are now badass who came out of nowhere. It could probably be that during the 7 years, these two clowns just started getting stronger and maybe without the magic amps and lacryma, could maybe just be able to give Natsu and Gajeel a light workout. but with the crystals and the amp, they just shoot up powerwise.
But then again, I'm talking out of my ass and was expecting Natsu and Gajeel to get beaten up right off the bat.
Food for thoughts. We know that Natsu has the ability to go dragon force when he eats external powersources... here's betting that he goes eat these two fools powers and he goes dragon force and beats up the two coz the girl did a number on Lucy. NAKAMA POWER ACTIVATE!
Spoiler:
Don't mind if Natsu & Gajeel have a hard time with the dragon force, but they should win this, to establish that the 7 year pace, has not change that drastically. String and Rock are just posers, I hate that they talk all big, when they have not face the dark dragon before, who freaking wipe out an island...Anyone more interested in the princess of Sabertooth and who she, will be fighting?
I wouldn't quite call them posers- they have after all been active big-time mages for the last several years.
Vansonbee-
Spoiler:
it's gotta be Erza. The only female member of a group who's also possibly their strongest member? It's a total Erza match, and hopefully it'll be good! Also, aside from these two, you've got a lightning user for Laxus and a maker user for Gray.
Originally posted by wakkawakkawakkaTrue that being 3rd gen DS, they should logically be stronger than Natsu gen, but because FT was there for 7 years, they had no standard to measure their strength against. I don't mind if the author extending their fights, to make them look bit good or just end it abruptly.
The fact that they come from the no.1 guild on top of being 3rd generation Dragon-slayers is what really ticks me off about Sting and Rouge's condition now.Either that or Hiro dropped the ball hard on this fight.
Originally posted by Q99The princess seem to be the strongest/feared in her guild, by the looks of things. Erza is automatically a standard for all powerful villainous chicks, but maybe Lucy will have a comeback? It seem the arc is revolving around her anyways.

Another thing, can anyone list the strongest to least in the current fairy tail guild?
I really enjoyed this chapter. I was wanting their cocky mouths STFU. I was hoping that Natsu and Gajeel to come out swinging and lay down a stomp.
I expected Sting and Rogue to have a poweramp of some sort, of course. I suspect that Natsu and Gajeel will start to get a beat down...and they will have to use strategy to win against Sting's and Rogue's full power.
That or Sting and Rogue run out of steam and Gajeel's and Natsu's durability allow them to win the match.
One thing I like is how even in a somewhat 'stompy' one-sided battle, it's not just no-sells. There's time when Sting and Rogue get in good hits, and they shrug off some pretty solid hits too. It's clearly going to the FTers, but it's not like a Bleach one-sided battle.

Lucy's wounded, and not on the team. So if it happens in the tournament, no.
I suspect her moment to shine will be against the conspirators, not Sabertooth.

Makarov, Gildartz, Laxus, Erza, Mirajane, Natsu, Gajeel, Grey, is the order I'd put the top ones in. Give or take.
Mirajane's somewhat hard to place, since we haven't seen her in as many drag-out fights against strong foes, so Natsu might've passed her.
Cana w/ Glitter, btw, might make the list or at least be close, but without is several lower.
The people who didn't timeskip like Max, Visca, and Alzack got a lot stronger, but I don't think any of them are as strong as the ones I listed. Max might be pretty close.
I'm glad Natsu and Gajeel stomped their asses. I don't care if they have lacrima infused magic on top of their dragon taught magic. What makes one strong is the quality of one's opponents and the drive behind one's fight IMO
Fairy Tail went against the very best the world had to offer(as far as we know) pre-time skip. It would have been offensive to Grimore Heart and Oracion Seis if they simply got oneshotted and humiliated throughout the entire fight.
They are also fighting to regain their #1 spot and for the sake of Lucy who got owned again(sigh)
The way I see it the 3 month training/second origin amp just got Fairy Tail back into fighting shape. I don't want Natsu to eat their powers. Would be too predictable and dull. I'm eager to see what Natsu and Gajeel can do when they start fighting as a team.
My placing for strongest in Fairy Tail would be the same as Q99.
Really where strength ranking gets trickier is lower down. Juvia, Freed, Lucy, Evergreen, Cana w/Glitter, Bickslow, Elfman, Max. It's hard to tell where they each match up, but the higher ups are more clear.
Lucy also has a fair amount of swing depending on whether she uses her best spirits or not. Lucy pulling out Taurus and Virgo'll lose to any of the above. Lucy pulling out Loke and Capricorn or Gemini (for her uber combo spell) should beat them.

Using your same list, I'd do it like this:Gildartz, Laxus, Makarov, Erza, Mirajane, Natsu, Gajeel, Grey
You put Makarov behind those two? His Giant mode is pretty impressive.
