Maybe. I suspect this isn't THE dragon arc, but we've seen how one arc can turn into another.

Yeah I'm talking about the anime filler currently taking place. Yeah that one. Its a bit silly at times(jiggle butt gang *sigh*) but it has some nice scenes too. Mira showed her 2nd demon take over in a fight and is now fighitng another dude. Filler is all right...not as good as the current canon manga arc but it has its moments. Or maybe I'm just biased because Mira is doing stuff in it.

I stopped following the arc coz it was pretty lame in the beginning.

I agree...especially because they were talked up.
BUT! I will note that Natsu was going toe-to-toe with their guild leader and the Guild Leader was even a bit impressed with Natsu and his backbone.
Also, I would note that the argument that Q99 and I had a few pages back about chapter 283: Natsu is definitely within the top 10 in of Sabertooth's guild and not at #10. He is equivalent to both of their top 2 guild members combined. 🙂

At the time I felt he might be around equivalent of maybe their 5 or so (iirc).
Now? Well, of the entire top 5 of Sabertooth, it seems to me like only the Guild Master's Daughter may be able to take him on head on (and that's a 'may.' She just seems the only one on a higher level than the twin dragon slayers).
Though Rufus, while certainly weaker than Natsu, would likely make a tougher fight than the Sabertooth slayers simply due to having a trickier power.

They didn't hold a candle against Hades either- however I doubt Laxus will have as easy a time picking off the easy targets as he did against RT, since the group here won't conveniently place themselves in range and Erza'll be up front.
And Grey is pretty tough, I think you underestimate him.

You forget, Laxus moves like lightning. He can and will pick out the weak ones as he demonstrated with his fight with Raven Tail.
We have little showings for Laxus and his fight with Raven Tail shows his mindset when fighting multiple opponents.
Laxus can and will take out Wendy, Lucy and Grey even before they are able to do something. Grey will be taken out not coz he's also weak like the other two, but because Laxus is too fast and to strong for him to defend against.
As for Natsu and Erza, IMO, Laxus can take them both on. Remember, even Erza was surprised as to how strong Laxus was when he was facing off with Hades. This to me says that Erza originally thought that the power difference between them was little to non-existent. But once she saw Laxus in action against Hades, she new right then that Laxus is THAT strong.
Only way I see Erza and Natsu wining against Laxus is by way of "Nakama" power! Without that, those two are toast.
Of course, thats way back then, but now? I have no Idea. Hell, with Natsu's showing against Sting and Rougue, I wouldn't be surprised if he can now match up with Laxus and take a few wins. Unless of course if Laxus has been upgraded as much as Nastu was too.

But he's facing foes faster than the RT ones. Erza's got superspeed herself, and he turns physical to attack. We saw Natsu and Gajeel were able to be fast enough to fight him.
RT was all in a group in front of him. They weren't deployed tactically, they were just counting on numbers.

Gray is not like a RT member who'll get one-shooted. He's Natsu's rival for a reason, he can take a lot of pounding.

If Gajeel + Natsu could put up a good fight, then Natsu + someone definitely stronger and who can put up a fight solo is a big concern. Plus Gray, who's useful here, and quite possibly some Wendy amps and Lucy summons if the others get in Laxus's face enough that he doesn't turn his attention away from the big threats.
RT are anti fairy tail mages. Grey got owned by one of them during the tournament. Sure it wasnt an all out fight, but he was being toyed with good.
Even Makarov had the other fairy tail mages keep their eye on RT coz he knows that his son and his guild are a dangerous bunch. Laxus took on all 5 of RT's members including their guild master. I'm very sure that all 5 of those were stronger than Wendy, Lucy and Grey before the time skip. Laxus teared trhough them like they were nothing. Wendy and Lucy being weak ass back then would get one shotted right off the bat. Even gray would get his ass kicked.
Laxus never considered Erza as his equal nor a challenge. The only one he considered in his class was Mystogan.
Natsu and Gajeel got their asses kicked. Only reason Laxus lost was because he used up most of his power using Fairy Law, that and you know, Natsu is the main character, so he gets a free pass with his "Nakama power up".
Like I said, without the Nakama shit, Laxus would tear through team Natsu no problem.
