Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2

And an external source of electricity would overload and fry it. Just as electrical equipment easily gets fried by power surges from lightning storms. Same principle.

I always wondered about that. Where does this idea come from that machines have some sort of overwhelming weakness to electricity? Hsi suit is probably powered by electricity for christs sake. 😂

Him not using lightning is stupid, but no for that reason, imo. Though my thoughts on that are probably even more nerdy and pathetic than thus demonstrated. 😐

Oh, I see. Because computers are powered by electricity, no harm is ever done to them by a lightning strike! I should have guessed!

Seriously, Blax? Seriously?

Which doesn't make any sense, considering that force lighting is a controlled arc of electricity. It's not like you just fire it off and it goes on it's own course, otherwise everyone would get shocked or at least a little singed on their fingers from using it, but they don't. They shoot the lightning out of their fingers and control it with the force so that the current goes where they want it to go, which is usually... not through them. That being the case, I don't see how him being a machine means anything, as long as he projects the lightning away from himself.

What does not make sense to me is why he can create lightning at all. I was under the impression that you required natural limbs with mitichlorians in them in order to harness lightning. But, then again... It's Star Wars. sigh. Well at least we have Star Wars 3D to look forward too! dur

They can control it, yes, but not all of it. You always see little arcs (sometimes not so little) that fly off in every which way. Any bit of external electricity can be highly problematic.

Not to mention the fact that Vader's a bit short on arms and hence would have to channel it through his suit...yeah...good luck with that.

Also, as you said, he shouldn't be able to create lightning at all, lacking limbs and all that 😛 Buuuut then again this game kinda ****s with canon more than anything else ever, so...yeah.

Watch the movies again. Arcs of electricity go off every which way all the time. It's guided, but not perfectly controlled.

Which is a moot point anyway, because seeing as Vader has no arms the electricity has to channel directly through his suit systems... overloading them and near-instantly killing him. He dies at the end of RotJ because the Emperor fried his life support systems with Lightning. If Vader had the capacity to use Lightning, he could have channeled it elsewhere or absorbed it as Yoda did. The obvious reason is because he's mostly machine and incapable of using Lightning without killing himself.

Good lord we're on a roll today 😂

Forgot to take the electricity thing and what not into account when I made that last post.. Take back what I said now on Vader using force lightening being cool. 😐

you can say that again.

😆 i love this thread.

GK telling me about that literally left me in a stunned silence for several moments while on the phone. I'm not joking or exaggerating.

Vader is more machine than man, he dies from getting hit by lightning, HE CANNOT USE LIGHTNING.

He dies from lightning?

I DON'T THINK SO! 😱

Movies > shitty games.

Vader is killed by Palpatine hitting him with Force Lightning.

This. Everything about this game is insulting to Original Trilogy fans.

So was episodes 1, 2, & 3.

Sha-Bam! 😆

i didn't like the first force unleashed, it was fun for about 10 mins, then it became the same thing on different skinned planets, over and over again.

saw no point in even looking at the 2nd game.

If, from what you say is true, then i am really glad i passed on it.

This wouldn't be the first time Darth Vader used Force Lightning. Go read the book, Splinter of the Mind's Eye. He was able to use it during his encounter with Luke Skywalker on Mimban when powered up by kaiburr crystals.

That wasn't force lightning, it was a ball of pure kinetic energy. The move is call kinetite.

That book was written as a fallback in case the first SW movie didn't do well; just about everything in it was very quickly retconned. And, as pointed out, that wasn't actually lightning anyway.

That's really not a book you want to reference for anything involving SW.

No, I'm pretty sure it was lightning he conjured when powered by the crystals. I think you're mixing this up with the time he took a Force bota.

SotME is not canon even within the Star Wars expanded universe.

And Lana, GK, don't think I've forgotten about your pathetic excuses for arguments above; an elephant never forgets, and I am not an elephant!

Well, you're wrong.

Although the comic adaptation of Splinter of the Mind's Eye depicts Darth Vader using a power superficially similar to Force lightning, George Lucas has stated that, because the Force is generated by life, it is impossible for Vader to directly channel Force energy through his mechanical arms. Explained Pablo Hidalgo in Star Wars Insider Magazine, Issue 80, "Though the comic adaptation of Splinter, published in the mid-1990s, depicts this action with something that looks an awful lot like Force lightning, the energy that Vader hurls isn't exactly that. It is pure kinetic energy—the ball that strikes Luke is called a kinetite, or "restrained energy globe." It's possible it's not even a result of a Force power at all but rather a device that Vader built into his suit."

Vader cannot use lightning, full stop, and has never done so. And even if he did in that book, it wouldn't matter, as it's long since been stricken from even EU canon.

No when he had the bota he was unleashing pure dark side blasts. In SotME it was Kinetite.

Okay so it's not canon but TFU2 is and thanks to the idiots at Lucasarts, everything's out of order now.

I think the important thing here is that I'm at least trying to be part of the conversation.
