Hey Charlie, do you happen to know any good, relatively cheap manual to learn Russian? Current money won't allow taking courses so I better look for a book.
Check out MIT's open course ware. The basic premise is free courses, but some are limited in scope (for example only having the syllabus and what books to get). Others are much more robust and could be used as a "non official self-degree" making tutalage.
edit: just checked. They don't have Russian, but they do have Chinese, Japanese, German, French, and Spanish

The site I've posted has also the links for subject-related books on Amazon...there's something to choose from.

1. In general, Pre-Crisis feats are not allowed except when the competitors can prove that they are still considered canon for a certain character (ex. Hal Jordan)^^^ Any idea how this would work?
This is what I've gathered so far. Khan or Bats will probably chime in with a resounding NO! or YES!

well for our part--our plan was ruled legal a few days ago, then today ruled ILLEGAL. so we need to revamp a few things. problem is--we based our draft on the strategy that was ok'd. now that the plan has been nixed, we've been ok'd to redraft one or 2 characters and we've been given til monday to do so. i don't think it will take that long--we've already come up with a couple possible new plans, but that's where WE stand. still no word from omega and JL anyway . . . sorry to all for the mix up, but we only went by what we were told was legal 😬
I heard you were a bit unfortunate with your opening tactics. Considering the worst possibly outcome, being forced to rewrite all of it, I think our team and Psycho/Charlotte's were pretty lucky.

anyhow, we just have to make a few tweaks and we're gravy (cluster aside). 😉

Well, Hal in example was not affected by the Crisis on infinite earths. Superman on the other hand, had his entire history erased/rewritten. Some incidents have been re-canonized in a way, which I believe is due to Superboy Prime's tampering in Infinite Crisis. Regardless, Superman's pc feats aren't canon unless specifically referenced. The Green lantern's feats however seem to be valid, within reason. This is what I've gathered so far. Khan or Bats will probably chime in with a resounding NO! or YES!

Wasn't Hal still present for part of Supes's history though? I mean they didn't meet again after COIE did they? If DC had really taken the stance that Hal and the rest of GL's were completely unaffected wouldn't they have been virtually unknown since they would have been absent from the period of time that was rewritten by COIE?
Just how it is.
