When are the judges for the other matches going to be announced?

Batdude and I are working the details of that out right now. Expect an announcement asap.

The "problem" (and I really don't want to call it that) is that so many people have been generous in volunteering their time as judges, the numbers don't quite work out perfectly. So we're trying to to hammer the detail out without asking too much from any one person.

The funny thing is I thought of the shrinking tactic too using Talisman, but thought it would be banned as thats not in the spirit of "prep".

I also thought intangibility was banned (its not), and I had several other options but from reading all these other posts guess I could have done them afterall. That's why Im not a fan of prep in most tournies as they go pretty out there. Cuidos to Charlotte and PG for keeping their prep at least respectable.

In fact, Zatanna has "shrink herself to the size of chess piece" feats as well... but I discarded that tactic (and mea culpa on using too much Oblivion arc stuff...it was unnecessary overcomplication, NTM using sentient constructs as leverage of power level for non sentient ones creates confusion...what it did, sadly...).

If size changing in prep is allowed, then why there are the room's size limits? Shrinking "just short of entering the Microverse" gives you as much space as any team possibly needs.
Also, should I have stayed with Nate...it could have been so different from the lackluster stuff it resulted in. Though I tried my best to give you a decent fight.

I also minimised specific research based prep as we go by "general knowledge on opposition" (I operated web-avaliable bios of characters).

Our team can shrink as well, all the way down Microverse level.

But hey if the tactic is not banned.

We don't know it was not banned... we though that the ruling on 'no changing the size of prep room' applied to relative size changing as well (just like 5 mins of objective time can become eons with proper usage of certain powers).

Generally my thinking too

Dont worry you did 👆

Exactly. We're not trying to diminish teams' creativity with the rules, just attempting to keep things on a somewhat level playing field. Ingenuity and creativity is encouraged. 😖hifty:

It shouldn't be encouraged. 🙁

I don't like a tactic being nixt in the middle of a match, I rather submit the prep/strategy ahead of time so it can be evaluated before the match.uhuh

Our goal in making the rules and banning certain tactics is to prevent teams from engaging in acts that we feel are close-to-impossible to reasonably counter or amount to instant wins for one team. Basically, we want everyone to have a fair chance in the fights.

Other than that, we want teams to have the freedom to be creative and use unorthodox ideas in their strategies. Trust me, I know exactly how fine a line that can be to walk, but part of the reason for holding a herald level-tournament is to let people use their imaginations and have a little fun with the whole thing (and not regulate the hell out of it).

Batdude and I have tried to make ourselves as available as possible to answer any questions about legal/illegal tactics that teams might have. I don't know what more we can do in that regard.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Also, teams should be aware that the meshing limit is still set at herald level. Simply because you can potentially amp yourselves up to near-skyfather levels, it doesn't mean you should. Obviously this is a subjective matter, but it would better to err on the side of caution here.

Despite my nightly prayers, the Almighty has yet to bestow upon me the gift of omniscience. Batdude and I can't predict all the ways people will come up with to get around our restrictions and I hate punishing people in the middle of a match when they didn't clearly violate a rule. That being said, Batdude and I have tried to be reasonable regarding complaints. If the shrinking issue is a big enough problem, we'd be more than willing to consider banning it following this round.

For what it's worth, I think you gave one of the better debating performances I've seen. In spite of those early prep missteps, you came within a hair's breath of still getting the victory in my mind. You really impressed the hell out of me.

Shrinking in battle is not an issue, shrinking in prep to bypass room size limit in my opinion is akin to using speedforce to prolong prep time to unknown limits...same "relative alterations".

haha stop making excuses Khan 😛, but no I would be shocked (and a little scared) if you did know all the ways people were going to do their prep.

Only because you don't know Canadian characters 😉

Charlotte always impresses me with her thoroughness and well thought arguments. I don't think her partner came through for her though.

I had Charlotte DeBel winning, and winning handily up until the Daxmaite constructs got nixt. mhmm

If she matched up her team with different characters it would have been close. However, going magic against Talisman? and going spirit form too? Not good. Same for Tangent Superman vs. Captain Comet. Even Kyle against Comet is not a good matchup either.

What hurt us was we didn't do an initial attack post as we didn't know that was supposed to go in the prep post.

Here are the judging assignments for the other matches. Judges please let us know if there are any problems from your end.

Don't worry Kahn, we've got a list of holes with the plan itself, it's just simpler from our perspective to see it banned outright if the "working through genetic manipulation" aspect is ruled illegal.

No worries though, as I say, it's no big threat regardless. Just thought that I'd check.

😊

I disagree, with Kyle Talsiman is nearly useless in regards to spirit/summons. His ring has several instances of imprisoning spirits. The entire team had rings equipped.

There is no clear answer as to who would be the victor of Tangent Superman vs Captain Comet. Tangent Superman while his appearances are short. Superman demonstrated he can take on a diverse set of meta humans gunning for him at once. Superman is not taking on another set of Meta's, he is pitted against just Captain Comet.

I know you dont agree with my views, but thats partially how I viewed the match. Next time I would like to be a judge.stoned

I didn't match kyle with Talisman, but then again GL have shown to be weak against magic many times before. Also the scan of Kyle dealing with the spirit was taken out of context as it was Raven's doing not Kyles. *shrugs* Also going astral form is an automatic lose to the Spirit-Binder who has controlled skyfather astral forms before. Then again Talisman and Comet are obscure so people dont get their power/abilities.

So has CC, but to a much higher degree on more occasions. I figured these characters not being well known would hurt the case.

Checking is a good idea more often than not. We try not to outright ban something unless its fairly obvious it violates the spirit or letter of the rules. And that particular attack was so vague on how/if it would work that its hard to make a concrete ruling against it. 😬
