hey moron, he said "honest living"... meaning legal/legitimate.
how is working at a construction site using magnetism or telekinesis not an honest living?
you are really dense, you know that?
Why is this thread in the reports?
Oh, I see now. Starscream...

You're being contrarious just to bust balls and stir up sh!t. And before you start back peddling and explaining remember, as a mod I get to make that call.
Unless stated otherwise, it's assumed that a person would be able to use and control powers as well as comic book characters.

ie Tony Stark and Cyborg Superman both have technopathy...but one has a MUCH higher level
ie Xavier and Psylocke both have telepathy...so who do we use as basis for powerset?
Originally posted by Starscream MYou're confusing being proficient with being honest... yeah, I'm the dense one. This is a IRL scenario... in order for it to be an "honest living" you would need to tell your boss you have a superpower, after exposing yourself, getting the job and making an honest living would be the lest of your worries.

I think our worldviews differ regarding that
you see that exposing a powerset would make you a target that governments around the world would try to come after you
I see that revealing a powerset would make you a god-figure/celebrity that the public would adore and worship you
meh.

My point is telepathy is more risky if used in a big scope, technopathy will give you better information and power with much less risk. Real life tp would be a mess.
To be honest, trying to sift through all the world's electronic information seems far, far "messier" than just telling people to do stuff. Omega(I think it was Omega) already pointed it out, but the real world isn't anywhere near as technologically connected as the comic world.

If I had powers I'd misuse them most likely, maybe not become a supervillain or anything like that but I don't think I'd be a superhero either.I just think that it's odd that the only thing people are talking about are using the powers for selfish pursuits.
I've already explained that I wouldn't want tp.
Super powers are outside the law, hence in at least one way, illegal.

Mmmmh... Information technology is made to be connected with systems unlike mind-reading, I assumed that would likely rise the accesibility and production of better information. Also, at any given time a lot of information is processed and no living being really has access to it. Organic brains are way "messier" than our communication systems, specially when it comes to fetching info.

if you do good, google does good, and by logic, the fellow employees will also enjoy the success indirectly.

I'm not sure if one company could really rely in the power of just one person though, losing that person would ensure too much loss so it would be a double-edged sword.

With technopathy, you'd have to do more work than that. You're dealing with seas of information directly rather than telling someone else to do it.
