If I were to use telepathy in a global scale I would care. In messure of scope technopathy risks a lot less, because I would still need non-vegetable humans to survive while destroying someone's Volkswagen wouldn't change the universe.

Powers have side-effects, it's like having super strength an not considering impulsive reflects such as coughing or having sexual intercourse or tearing your own clothes. In real life telepathy would likely mess with something in the controlled mind, since everything that has a conscious effect has an unconsious one.
