I only watched the first 2 episodes of this show, couldn't really get into it.

It's a shame about Whitfield, though. I hope he fully recovers from cancer

Spoke too soon, Whitfield's remission was short lived; unfortunately the cancer came back and he needs "aggressive treatment", so he's out of the show indefinitely.

STARZ is considering recasting him, should they go onto Season 2 after the prequel season wraps up.

Don't judge it until episode 4 or 5. Seriously. Once the show stops trying to emulate 300 it actually gets really good imo.

But in all seriousness, I love this series. Even the Gods of the Arena spinoff has been quite good -- getting some backstory on Crixus/Ocnomas helps build their characters tremendously.
