I've only been to this forum for about 3 weeks now. Some of the jargon still escapes me.....TOAA?
Help would be appreciated.
I agree on the whole destiny philosophy and Marvel writers limited plot holes. But the whole Thanos vs Odin battle feels like Thanos as a physical being with free will has potentially in the end more room for growth than Odin, an Omnipotent God who has reached his prime.

TOAA reminds me of the Architect in the MATRIX....a being that had seen many worlds fall by existing in a multiverse state. And Neo being the one he guided and watched...slowly defying his universes destruction. And Neo being Thanos, being the one, he can stop such inevitable destruction 🙂
Cool just fortifies my belief more that Thanos' potential could one day be above Odin's so to say.....one of true enlightenment!

A third party putting a stop to the fight is not a standoff, quanchi's inane "the characters were both standing" definition of the term notwithstanding.
And you're right that standstill isn't quite identical. Where standoff inherently implies an impasse, standstill can basically just mean that the conflict stops without reaching a definitive conclusion for any reason.
Put it this way: Cars in dead stop traffic are at a standstill, while two cars facing one another and refusing to move are in a standoff.
In other words, the comic doesn't end in a standoff, and the bio does not support such an interpretation.

So, yeah, as has been said previously, the former implies 'equally matched opponents', whereas the latter implies nothing more than a lack of movement.
