Tournament Discussion Thread

I actually have a habit of putting everything slightly beneath adamantium, justified or not.

But yes, cross-universe comparisons make for headaches, even on the best days....which is one of the primary reasons they're rarely allowed to mix on the forums.

Ok. Who is going to be hosting the next tournament? I have a few non comic and comic ideas, so I'd be willing to throw down in any type of tournament.

If not, I'd have to go do a battlezone just to let the idea(s) loose, but those don't seem as....thrilling. ermm

^ what he said

delph's rules are still pretty decent in my eyes, so all the necessary grass roots work has a template, someone just has to make necessary edits and such.

can i host it and compete? is that even possible?

That's a pretty big conflict of interest. I'd say no.

Wasnt OV interested in hosting something?

oh well

i'll ask OV to post a call to all potential competitors in his cross-genre threads

Just re-read what he's trying to do. Street and Low Meta? Eh, we basically just did that.

Anyone willing to try a High Meta to Low Herald tournament? We tried it once, but it never got past drafting (due to Trick).

I'll host a high-meta tourney. Though i'd like to do mixed-genre.

I'd be willing to help you with such a tourney any way I could. 🙂

kandy reads manga and comics, it will work out if he hosts imo

I'll be gone for most of the next week, but i'll try and draw up ideas while i'm away.

I'm potentially down with that- still MIA for all next week, but then I should have some time to chill, and then things will become hectic again and then relaxed again, so I'll have to gauge it as we get closer to countdown, if this thing actually takes off.

Also, hi. I'm almost back. Rejoice?

Hi Starscream's peer. 😖hifty:

Good to see ya again.

I would be willing to judge. I don't know a lot about manga or most dc, so I'd do as much study as necessary to make sure I made educated decisions. I have a lot of free time at work, and can study combatants, and read matches there, than post in depth decisions when I get home. I want to participate in the future, but I would like to judge a couple first.

Let us know as they come.

What about a tournament (say herald or high meta level) where we pick, say, 3 characters, but only use one in the actual match scenario? The opponent wouldn't know which we choose beforehand.

Give like 10 seconds prep and just run a series of quick, straight forward matches.

^ I like that a lot, actually.

Redraft each round, or just keep the same characters for the entirety of the tourney?

If that was the case, I think I'd pass. I like the ability to enhance my characters strengths and cover my characters weaknesses with multiple characters.

Its different, and I may change my mind, but I just think that it would be no different than any Battlezone or regular Vs. Just IMO at least

I actually like this one but with a little modification, instead of allowing just one character for the match, you should include the two cept they can only be used for support/defensive purpose and are unable to make any offensive attacks.. Also @ the end of the match, the winner would have the option to draft one character from the losers roster to add it to his own, next round you add one attacking character.. My 2 cents..

Either no redrafts or redrafts at key points, without knowing who your upcoming opponent will be.

The goal is just a straight forward, run & gun tourney, with the simplicity of a solid battlezone match, but the organization and talent/competition that tourney's offer.

Which is also why I think, Ambient, your suggestions would make the whole tourney weaker, cause it's just extra complications.

The trick would be to get a well rounded set of three characters to choose from, and then just to debate as best as you can.

If people are interested, it could be fun. I wouldn't mind hosting either.
