I think you should really visit me in Germany. Making a "Jewish joke" here will - at best - result in people shaking their heads while an expression of pity or anger appears on their face. Doing it in the wrong place might result in some nice stay at the next hospital, because some left extremists will show their lack of tolerance concerning people who offend against a proper sense of reverence because of all the Holocaust victims the Nazis are responsible for.

Well that's because in those cases, which weren't quesioned entirely on the issue of narrative anyway (but of canon, ambiguity and substantiation as well), there existed a possibility, in some cases a strong one, and in some cases a certainty, that the narration was indirectly voicing the characters' thoughts or feelings at the time.
In this case there is no such possibility. A logical analysis of the structure of the passage as well as character perspective and the nature of human thought would conclude that the passage could not have been coming from Bane.
