Star Wars Stupidity

Started by Darth Truculent5 pages

One thing and one thing only - Padme never aged. Did they get that idea from Highlander or something?

Rest is trivial.

Padme dying from an easily recoverable situation just because she 'lost the will to live' or some nonsense.

"My hubby turned to the dark side, so I don't want to live anymore..... Screw watching my children grow up."

Utter fail. srsly

Amen.

Also, Lucas ruining the coolest thing in Star Wars: General Grievous in rots, which just paved the way for the the continual Villian decay ever since. 🙁

So very true.

Notice how 90% of the "stupidity" is in the PT?

its cause the pt's less cliche.

ot's got plenty of dumb shit, its just that its been discussed to death already in the last 30 years lol

OT crap: How about the musical interlude in ROTJ? What was that?

And the ewoks turning into a real fighting force.

And Luke's "I used to shoot wamp-rats no bigger than that back home."

I don't count the musical number in ROTJ, that was SE. That's not the true version of Star Wars.

The Ewoks would have been much more believable if they didn't look like cuddly teddy bears.

What was wrong with the wamp-rats line?

just really cheesy.

Kinda like the stormtroopers never hitting anything in the entire trilogy. They might not of even had real blasters for all we know.

Obi killing Grievous with a blaster was pretty fail too.

There are four awesome scenes in all of the SW movies.

1. Luke in the cave, the only scene that contains a worthwhile line from Yoda. "Only what you take with you." That was the best line in all of ESB.

2. Vader's reveal at the end of ESB. Talk about major mindscrew for Luke.

3. Anakin's march on the Jedi Temple with the clones combined with the autocratic music in the background, f*cking menacing.

4. The Anakin/Sidious opera scene. The music, Sidious doing his chessmaster thing, moving the pieces into place. Chilling.

The rest belongs in this thread.

I like the thought of Obi-Wan killing him with a blaster, but the execution of the scene sucked ass.

I'd say the scenes on the Death Star in ROTJ also count. Lots of emotion, a great fight scene (yeah it was sloppy, but had tons of emotional weight in it, unlike the PT's plastic feel) and the guy who played the Emperor really f'king nailed it. Stole the movie.

Agreed completley. Except about the fight scene being sloppy. I prefered the saberfighting in the OT over the PT. Seems far more natural and powerful.

While I personally don't like Obi utilizing a blaster offensively, it wasn't a fail moment for him so much as it was for Grievous. I mean first they have Obi utterly embarrass GG in a saber battle (within seconds) -- then they enter a pointless 'time filler chase scene' -- and finally Obi summons a nearby blaster and kills GG with a few well placed zaps to the chest.

All in all it was a less than mediocre end to a villain who'd been previously established as a sheer badass. Granted GG had the smoker's lung working against him, but none the less, Lucas could have done MUCH better with that whole scene. /shrug

The part I really didn't understand, why was fire bursting out of his eyes after being shot with a blaster? From everything we've seen in the past, a blaster will burn right through you, not cause your flesh to be combustive.

I loved the "so uncivilized" line from Kenobi after the kill though. According to ROTS novelization, he is talking about the blaster, not about grievous, and that made it cool.

Some of the biggest blunders are:

1. The death of Padme (She lost the WILL to live) WTF?

It would have made more sense if Force Choke was to be blamed.

2. Ewoks managing to battle the superior forces of the Empire 🙄

And an absolutely terrible Alien race to begin with.

3. The invinciblization of Luke Skywalker

He was a great character in OT but after that an overpowered pile of shit with personality flaws. I hate over-powering of hero characters like this.

4. Jarael 🙄

The worst character ever introduced in Star Wars mythos. The Gary Stu of KOTOR. In later stages of her life, she even wields the lightsaber of Exar Kun - OMG!

5. The disappearance of Revan in to the unknown Worlds and never heard of since?

Thanks to Obsidian for ruining Revan's story. We now officially have an unsatisfactory conclusion to the story of one of the greatest characters in Star Wars Saga.

6. The Jedi Exile

No pun intended to her fans but I believe her to be one of the worst and most useless characters of KOTOR times. She beats 3 Sith Lords and than vanishes? (Another example which shows that how Obsidian ruined KOTOR.)

I knew he was talking about the blaster well before reading the novel...he looked at the blaster as he was throwing it away. It's a call back to ANH when he says lightsabers are a weapon from a more civilized age.

would you (or anyone, for that matter) be able to tell me what I should read if I want to learn about Revan? I always hear great things about him.
