Trying to figure out who will be in Capcom's upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is a guessing game at this point. At E3 we were able to determine that neither Loki nor the Punisher made the cut, but that still leaves thousands of possible characters to choose from. We decided it was time to narrow down the list a bit.Considering that Capcom recently revealed Marvel's demonic lord Dormammu would be in the game, a savvy comic reader might assume that Dr. Strange would also be making an appearance in the game, especially since Strange is one of the few Marvel characters who I can actually remember having fought Dormammu. But you know what they say about assuming.
When we asked Marvel vs. Capcom 3's producer Ryota Niitsuma about this in a recent interview, he said, "It's a tricky question to answer because everyone always asks if their favorite character will be in the game, but half of the characters haven't been revealed yet, so we don't want to spoil anything. But I will say that Dr. Strange won't be in the game."
Later on we came back to the subject of characters, and we tried to trick Niitsuma into letting something else slip by asking him if Marvel had rejected any of Capcom's character suggestions. Niitsuma wouldn't say anything, but he put his finger to his lips, and then made a visor motion across his eyes before drawing an X across his chest. We don't speak sign language, be we assume that Niitsuma was telling us to look closely into our hearts for the answer.
We just crossed a few names off our giant list of thousands of possible characters. We're going to narrow the field down eventually. Capcom can't keep this a secret for long.

He doesn't exactly say Cyclops, but the whole visor thing and drawing an X across his chest. It's pretty obvious he means Cyclops.
I noticed that at the end but that could mean anything. It could mean that they're keeping tight lid on him. Or maybe that the next character will be an X-Men character.
Even though I'm not really a fan of Cyclops, I think it would kind of suck if he wasn't in the game. He is the leader of the X-Men and he was a good character in the previous games.

No it doesn't. 😐 The specific question asked to the guy was "Which characters are not going to be in the game", to which he replied with the whole visor and x across his chest thing. It would really be reaching to think that he gave an answer that was the complete opposite of what was asked to him...
