Yes, I know you specified saber to saber, but I still don't interpret it as such. I wish this duel had occurred on the movies or animated series in order to supplement the novel. Anyways, thanks for the excerpt.
Reread the first 3 paragraphs. Imo, it's pretty clear that their saber battle was, for all intents and purposes, a stalemate.

[EDIT]
I nearly forgot that there was a cut-away scene I removed from the excerpt, which depicted Kit Fisto and another Jedi battling a few Magnaguards whilst Mace and Grievous were fighting (I removed said paragraph because it didn't specifically pertain to the point at hand.) However, it does mean that Mace/GG battled for even longer then my post gave them credit for (further proof of what was essentially a saber-stalemate.)

While being a huge Maul fan I still have to think about the fact that its a double saber you realy have only a limited way you could use it in battle, when fighting an opponent with two seperate sabers your best bet would be switch to one saber instead of the duel blade method you just dont have the flexablity to fight more than one blade at a time, with the overwhelming force of four mechanicaly strengthened blade Im sorry but Maul with out the force doesnt stand a change unless he fights lik the assassin he is, Maul isn't stupid unough to take him on in a fair fight he'd strike from the shadows and suprise him. so final descision is 1 on 1 I give it to GG but with a suprise attack i give it to Maul.
