In 1995, when the last release of the original, unaltered trilogy came to VHS & Laserdisc with those specialty covers, there was word this was the last chance to own the films in this form. So we knew then future releases were going to have additions and alterations, but we didn't know when or how many.
(It wasn't until late fall of 1996 that I saw coming attractions posters for the OT in movie theatres, and knew then it was coming; by the release of the Special Edition OT in theatres in January 1997, we got the news the PT was in pre-production.)
Disney does the same thing sometimes, in making their animated classics available to own for a limited time before 'putting them back in the vault.'

But at least with Disney and their "vault", they will re-release the movie on a new format (such as DVD Blu-ray, etc) later on. The same film you know and love. The only thing they change with them is correcting color issues.

My problem is the actual packaging. The cover looks pretty but I wish there was more on it. I actually prefer the PT and OT blu-ray packaging better. Also I've never been a fan of the poster with all the characters.
