X-Men: First Class movie

The trailer looks disappointing to me and I have to say I'm not really looking forward to the movie. The story of Magneto and Professor X and how they started their teams are fine, but how can we see the beginning of the X-men without the originial 5? No Jean and I'm not sure if we're gonna see Scott, but we see his brother Havok..oh wait, he's not his brother in the movie.

Nightcrawler's dad??? Emma Frost? Interesting characters but where are the orignial X-men in all of this?

I feel this is done for a wider audience and the original 5 were done in the first Xmen movie and this is before that.

I really enjoyed wolverine and I look at any variation from the comics (that I know of) as a way to bring in a wider audience and not just the comic book fans. This movie looks good and I hope it is a prequel to the 3 x-men all of which I loved. It takes place before wolverine origins so that is OK the only thing is Emma frost is in it. So I hope it's NOT a reboot cause I feel this is one franchise that does not need that as it has so many characters to use.

It is impossible for this film to be a prequel to the X-Men Trilogy. So many things in this upcoming film don't match up in continuity.

I agree. That is my only dissapointment with this film. I would have loved to see the original 5 in this. But I think this team will be pretty good though (not as good as the original 5 but still good).

WTF ??? Why? Please explain. Why the he'll would they be doing a reboot on something that doesn't need it

Why can't this movie fit in the same universe and continuity as the other 4 X-Men movie, you ask? It's simple. Look at the characters that will be in the film. This movie will take place in the 60's. Certain characters in this upcoming movie (like Emma Frost) will be the at the same age they were in the other 4 X-Men movies and the other X-Men movies take place decades after the 60's. This is why I think this movie will most likely be a reboot. I'm fine with a reboot. The X-Men franchise didn't have much left to explore anyways. X-Men 3 f**ked up most of the characters (and even killed some important ones). Plus, some of the actors got too old to portray their perspective characters again in X-Men 4 (Ian McKellen being the most well known example; he himself said that he won't be playing Magneto again because he got too old for the part). So besides sequels to X-Men 3 (which I personally don't want and doesn't look like they will come out anytime soon), the only options we have left are:
1) Stay in prequel territory for a few more years and then doing a reboot
2) Do/Plan a reboot right now
I prefer if this movie will be a reboot instead of a prequel. The movie looks pretty good so far. I am looking forward to it. I have high hopes for this film and I think it has potential of surpassing X2 and being the best X-Men film so far.

I don't mind it being a prequel, I would just rather not have it be a reboot. As I really enjoyed all 4 Xmen movies and don't feel they need a reboot just yet. And the only thing that would contradict it being a reboot would be Emma frost I think. So for the most part wolverine took place in 1979. And Xmen first class takes place in 1962. Maybe emma frost doesn't age? Lol or the one in wolverine could be her daughter?

I havent posted in this thread, but I've been very vocal in my hate for X-People: No Class the movie (seeing as it doesnt pull from any actual canon that I can tell).

However this author's suggestion makes me wonder if Hollywood could actually pull something as interwoven as what he suggests - and which I would be in favor of:

edit: just to make clear however, I have no hope that this is actually true.

at first i had no idea why they would have havok and darwin in this but that would be sick of their actually doing the krakoa storyline

Indeed, though regardless, I still agree that "X-People: No Class" is a fitting name for this movie, sadly. 😂

Ideally X-Men First Class would have been the first film made and consist of the original 5 X-Men and villains like Magneto or Sentinels.

But it is a movie and set in our real world so it can still be a great film.

As it is being directed by Matthew Vaughan KICK ASS and has good cast, I think it will be the best of all the X-Men movies so far.

I got a feeling Kevin Bacon will steal the show as Shaw

Unfortunally it does'nt.

i think if people can get it out of their heads that the X-Men movies dont and will not follow anything in the comics, that theyre pretty decent movies. some more than others.....

I can agree when it comes to the first two films. The others, not so much. Just from the looks of the X-People No Class trailer, it would probably be just forgiving enough if it had Cyclops.

i glad that this movie might not be kid friendly..

or at least tageted towards kids even thought it's most likely gonna be a pg 13 movie.

Empire have a new trailer here.

Pretty much what we have seen before with a few extra bits. Just keep the good trailers coming and stop with the crap posters.

New trailer is out

them being adaptations means adapting the comics. it's kind of the point.
