That's just gameplay. If we took gameplay damage into account, Dante would be severely gimped as well.

Regardless, it doesn't change the fact that Dante has no durability feats to come close to X's best. And if we're considering gameplay enemy damage, then Dante can be mauled by some pretty weak enemies, as Demonic Phoenix has pointed out.
I have played every DMC game except the first one. Dante is a pretty tough guy if actually play DMC4. He has 5 styles which includes Darkslayer mode, means that he can use Yamato. That Yamato pretty much pwns every living thing in that game. Pandora 666 is pretty damn powerful to. Like the guy who said that it flashes and destroys every thing on screen and leaves no remains. Cerberus nunchukes are fast and make barriers of ice. The dude even rides missles like skateboards. MMX is pretty damn powerful, considering he pwned some robots that are more advanced in technology than him. If Dante stands around while MM is charging a shot...Dante might get pwned and might not have time to regenerate while MM is constantly shooting him till he is no more. Dante will have to activate DT and use Yamato and 666 to get MM down some levels. If Dante uses Yamato on MM and actually makes Yamato use its power, than MM might be a goner. IDK I´ll have to see what i can do on my research. But i say Dante has this one, even tho it will be one pretty damn good battledeaththat is mm whenever dante uses the yamato
