Strom is an african queen 😬 bad example. Same as with people that use T'Challa as an example. DUH.
Does Cyclops NEED to be white? In his universe does him being WHITE matter in the slightest in his / x-men story arcs? No..it doesn't.
Spiderman isnt a story of some african spiderbite victim in the deep jungle. It is not the story of some Norse acnient spidergod bite that bestows super powers on thou victim.
Its an inner city kid (could be any colour and still work) A high school geek (could be any colour and still work ) little family and little money (could be any colour, the story doesnt change) gets bitten, gets powers, wears a costume (could be any colour skin underneath, what does that have to do with the STORY or his PERSONALITY?)
A white king of an ancient african nation wouldnt fit, you're right. But the story of an average new york highschool kid getting powers doesn't require him to be a certain colour.
Acting ability is an entirely different matter. You didnt like MCD as kingpin because frankly his acting was trousers, and the movie was indeed pants aswell. I honestly dont see the issue. Even as an avid comic book fan.

No, this wouldn't have an effect on the overall story, you're absolutely right. However, this is clearly a racial-political (for lack of a better term) move. A faux attempt to "equalize" a race that (though already equal) is stereotyped as being unequal to the race that is stereotyped as dominate (even though said race is not in any way dominate, nor should it be). If a black character were portrayed as white in a movie, the equal-rights community would be up-in-arms about how "racist" this casting was. I don't see why it should be any different for a white character played by a black guy. Until nonsense like that stops... the stereotypes of inequality will never cease.

I did. 5 dull white guys are in the running to Play spidey and Twitter users are pushing for Donald Glover to play Spidey in response to the comment "In this day in age why does spidey have to be a white guy?" Infact, if you click on the link, it takes you to another article titled "The last thing Spider-Man should be is another white guy"
It stinks of pushing Donald Glover, partially because of his acting ability (that I have only been able to witness a little of) and mostly because of his skin color.

People have their own opinions, learn to except that and STFU. I and some others want a white Peter Parker and you have your opinion.
Originally posted by Mandrag GanonIf you have read the article, and understood its point, how do you still come to the conclusion that it is an attempt to equalize a race? His point was why limit ourselves to a bad actor that happens to be the same race instead of going outside that race and using someone who can actually act. It wasn't even a black/white thing.

How does it stink of pushing Glover because of his race when the writer of the original article didn't even bring him up?

And i respect your opinion. It's the reasons im hearing that i cant get my head around. He's white in the books so he must be white in the film? is not a worth while excuse.
If we're talking about Steve Rogers, it would be more valid. 40's america, army clerk or w/e. Sure i get it.
Magneto, perfect yes, hes european born in the 30's he'd work best as a white character.
Thor? Sure, he's Norse ffs.
Prof X - again sure, born in england in the 30's or w/e ofcourse he'd be better white.
Tony Stark, again from his character background sure, who his fathr was and all that big business men of colour wernt around back then, so great it works best for him to be white .
And a host of others that i could name all would work better white. For Character background continuity sakes.
Spider-man as a character isnt one of them. AND thats NOT an opinion. Some CHARACTR and PERSONALITIES go beyond race. The fact you and a few others cant accept that just means..well...that you can't except it 😬

Good point. I don't think the character would really change just the apperance of said character. We've always seen Peter Parker as the geeky white guy, he's always been white and portrayed by white actors. Not that it really matters. I say go for it, see how it turns out.
But again as everyone's already pointed out. Regardless of whos played Spiderman I'm not sure I really want another Spiderman film...
haha, ya, I see that as 2 separate issues though
by all means, do it, it might be interesting
but it wont be because it is a hollywood film being built around a gimmic

and yet he IS white.
just because your race isn't something that you define yourself by, doesn't mean it's something that should be changed, imo.
that said, i wouldn't mind a black spider-man, as long as it wasn't peter parker.

You would've never posted if Cyclops wasn't mentioned I'm betting.
